London Marathon Team Breathe

Everyone done really well today, but I have to say this. ‪I have a new found respect for Katie Price, running/walking the London Marathon for her Mum, and for the British Lung Foundation. ‬

‪She may not have completed the marathon, but she gave it a good go, & the BLF got some much needed exposure. ‬

‪Well done Katie, thank you! #blf #teambreathe‬

Well done to all those who were raising money for good causes and indeed all those taking part.

It’s great to think that so many charities will have some more much needed funds.

Katie’s mum lives in our village so I hope she was watching. Xxxxx

Yes well done to Katie Price. I must admit I always thought she was a bit of an airhead until I saw her on I'm a Celebrity', The way she tackled the challenges was amazing and I saw she had true grit and a great deal of courage.

I don't admire her for what she does and how she lives her life etc. but to make so much money and be so famous despite having no talent must take some doing. x

I kind of respectfully have to disagree here. The only profile she has raised is her own. She didn’t train, or take it seriously like the rest of those running for the BLF. She raised a very small amount for charity. I think she’s actually annoyed a lot of people. I’d rather she continued to speak out about the impact of the disease and use her ‘fame’ for that rather than ever donning running shoes again. Sorry.

Marie, in one way, I totally agree. She didn’t train, she knew before hand she had dodgy knees. So in that regards it was a fools errand from the get go.

But look at it from the other angle. Directly she may have raised a small amount, yes. But look at all the media coverage she’s got. She’s everywhere. The Sun, Daily Mirror, Daily Star, Daily Mail, The Metro.... all widely read papers. And she blew up the internet last night because of this.

How many people would have looked at that and thought, “oh, I didn’t know about the BLF. What’s that then?”, gone and looked us up, and the possibility for donations that came indirectly could be huge.

And even without the donations side of things, Katie’s raised awareness. Her mum has been diagnosed with IPF. Even if one undiagnosed person out there reads her story and thinks ooo that sounds like me, gets to the doctors and gets diagnosed, it was worth it.

Do I think she should ever don a pair of running shoes again? No. I agree with you there. But do I think her attempt yesterday really helped? Actually, yes. I do.

She didnt train and didnt take it seriously. As a result she stole the place of another runner raising money for charity and blocked their attempt, as the mother of a runner I know how annoying that is. There's so many people desperate to run it but won't get the chance as demand is so high

She completed the marathon some years back, and made it all about herself then too. Claiming she had a miscarriage 2 days prior.

She knows how the publicity industry works. And needs the exposure as her popularity has waned.

Princess Diana did exactly the same thing but she was loved? Any publicity for us is good and you don't have to approve of Katie Price and her life but the end results still meant many heard of us who never had before. This has to be good for BLF.

Ps Haven't seen you for ages TEDTHEBEAR. Have you heard from mutual friends recently? x
