Hi, I take Spioto Respimat 2 puffs in am along with 15 mg prednisone, and for hard time I take Combivent Respimat up to 4-5 puffs a day. I still have bad days especially in am but seems to improve as the day goes on, high humidity is tough on breathing, also seem to get anxiety or panic attack at times when breathing becomes difficult. A few beers in afternoon helps quite a bit.

Hi Sanfelpipe - are you taking 15 mg prednisone daily, and is this long-term? Am interested because only when I am on prednisone can I function. In between I just feel dreadful and can hardly breathe, move around etc. I limp along till the Respiratory Team put me back on prednisone.

Hi,I am not on oral prednisone. I take an inhalation that contains 180 mcg. per inhalation. I take 4 puffs a day. I was told by nurse that oral steroids might help. I take clonazepam(klonopin) 0.5 mg. twice a day for anxiety. I hope you feel better. Sam

Everyone's reactions to these meds is different. And sometime what works for a while seems to stop working so well. As you have been so recently diagnosed it could be that the best combination of meds for you has not been found yet. I'd suggest you go back to your pulmonary specialist and talk all this through with them. Maybe keep a diary before you go indicating how you've been each day, the ups and downs, and note the humidity levels too. Perhaps a pattern will appear which will help any decisions on changes to your prescription.

I hope you get this sorted out and feel better very soon. Best wishes, Annie

Hi I take these meds and ventolin is the main reliever used and I find this help, I was changed from symbicort due to the new Gold Standard saying I was over medicated using steroids despite it working well for me.

I am now on SR and find it does nothing for my breathing at all. I have an appointment with my nurse next week to discuss this. All it does is make me cough! x

Hi there,

I can only speak from My experience with ventolin. I find it to be reasonably good reliever when I’m breathless from either humidity or exertion. However I’d advise you to get advice from a medical professional to make sure your technique is correct as if not used correctly it’s not going to work. As you’re only recently diagnosed it may well be worth getting advice. Hope that helps.

Hi, thank you for your advice. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow and asking the nurse to show me the correct technique. Thanks again.

Please let us know how you get on won’t you! As a footnote many people don’t use inhalers correctly which affects their effectiveness. Good luck and wishing you improved health.
