Good afternoon everyone, can I ask if anyone with COPD, Bronchiectasis, Emphysema of CF takes or has ever been prescribed Ephedrine Tablets by their GP. I know it is a Bronchial Dilator and I am thinking of talking to my GP about it. I understand it can be damaging to your heart If misused as it can increase your heart rate.

Thank you for your comments in advance.

Hello Joseph. If you click on 'ephidrine' in the footnote at the end of your post you will see other posts that mention it.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I had it as a child from about age 7. In the 50s & 60s it was really the only treatment. Thank goodness for modern drugs, as I still remember the agitation & endless sleepless nights. It causes tachycardia too, but I’ve had cardiac tests & all ok. It’s definitely not the drug of choice for bronchospasm now but at the time it was that or nothing.
