😢

I know the feeling. I have COPD

Do you have a tickle in your throat 😂😁

Post nasal drip?

you need to see the doctor if the cough is unrelenting. I use an inhaler for cough but it still persists underlyingly. Try warm drinks better without milk when the cough is bad. Steroids are very good but you need a doctor for them. Good luck with finding a control. Hope you feel a little better soon.

I have this almost all the time, to varying degrees. It really gets me down sometimes.

When I had cough cough cough I went to A&E and they gave me Co-Codamol as a suppressant. After coughing for more than 3 hours beforehand, it stopped within about 10 minutes. Give it a try.

I started coughing in July 2012, out of the blue. I was diagnosed with bronchiecstasis and ‘difficult’ asthma. I didn’t stop coughing until September 2017, after a change in my prophylactic antibiotics. It wasn’t just a tickle but a proper productive cough. It made my job really difficult (I was a teacher.) I have now have sympathy with anyone who has a cough!

Hi, can I ask what antibiotic you are on now? Mine started out of the blue too last year. Asthma and bronchiectasis have been mentioned but still not decided.

I’d been on doxycycline everyday for about three years. It reduced the number of infections but didn’t stop them. I had a long running cold, sinus infection and on and off chest infection (if that makes sense.) I had an awith my lung consultant and pointed out that taking daily antibiotics wasn’t really working so he changed me onto azithromycin, three times a week. My cough stopped completely after about three weeks, and I have only had one very minor chest infection. It’ll be interesting to see what happens in May, because I have to stop the azithromycin over the summer when I wasn’t normally getting infections- hopefully the cough won’t come back!

Thanks for replying. I think this is the route I will have to go down as I've had more or less non stop chest infections since Sept. Mine also complicated by sinuses too. Going to docs next week so I think I will mention about a prophylactic antibiotic and I've seen others mention the one you're on so it sounds good. You get so fed up with it don't you. Glad you're now feeling better than you were and fingers crossed it doesnt come back this summer!

The change in me was amazing once the cough had stopped - I still had lots of other symptoms like post nasal drip, shortness of breath, a runny nose, but in myself I felt well, just because I wasn’t coughing! I hope you get sorted.

I'm so glad that you're feeling so much better. It is the feeling unwell that's worse than some of the actual symptoms so its really heartening to hear that things have improved for you. I think once I get a firm diagnosis and proper treatment plan I will feel better. The doctor first said copd, then asthma/copd overlap and now possibly bronchiectasis too as I have been so unwell. Hopefully he will send me for a ct scan and to see a specialist. Am going to ask about this on Monday. Keep well and thanks x

I feel you! Me too, finished a course of antibiotics( the third one) and steroids on Monday and was feeling better. Yesterdat it all started up again and just coughing non stop. Haven't been well since last September. They still haven't fully decided what's wrong with me. Really hope you feel better soon. I'm taking cocodamol in the hope it will calm it down. Let us know how you get on and if you find anything that helps. Tea with honey is quite soothing.

Hi, I really hope the summer (if it arrives haha) will help us all feel better. I'm feeling very disappointed as I thought I was feeling a lot better over the weekend but now I'm back to square one.

please go see your doctor in 2014 i had a very tickly cough that i could not get rid of went to see the doctor she sent me for x rays and a cat scan i was told i had lung cancer that was a rearly scary time but got it over with now ok but still have to take care stopped smoking in 2014 and not smoked since ,

Yes I agree go to the doctors. I had an easier cure for my own cough which was terrible. I gave up smoking :) From having 2/3 major coughing fits a day as well as a chronic cough it has improved by 95%! x
