Going electric very soon

Getting a new car it should be ready in 2 weeks. Going for the Nissan Leaf, fully electric so no emissions. Also don't have to buy car tax for it and I got a government grant for some of the cost as it's zero emissions.

Can't wait it's looks great goes 200miles on a full charge and environmentally is far better. So excited about never having to go to a petrol station again!

It's such a great car and apparently they've got lots of orders I don't know why you'd want to buy a petrol car when they've got such a great alernative now.

Is it possible to charge an electric car if you live in a terraced house or a flat? I don't know how they work .....would you have to go to a charging station?

A little of horses for courses, I live in a third floor flat......but if I drove, I could charge it at work.......once a week!

I think you would have to go to charging station then but they're are lots now, the supermarket car parks have them too. And you can get a portable one with th car for if u go stay somewhere.

Hi, Shancock. Congrats on your new car and for choosing electric. I was just wondering; how much does it cost to charge from flat to fully charged compared to filling an empty tank ? It seems obvious to me that it's the way to go but I can't seem to find a cost comparison. Finally, should it break- down, ( Which it shouldn't because there's a lot less to go wrong. ), where do you take it to be repaired? Good luck and take care.

A breakdown cover with the car manufacturer but there's nothing to go wrong other than the battery. The battery has a warranty 7 years I think. To charge from home it will take about 7 hours and costs about £5. To use a charge station is quicker not sure how much but much less than fuel and I'd only use a charge station if I was visiting mums or on holiday.

No road tax to pay and if u go into London no congestion charge either. Good for me as I'm SE London and they want to bring the charge all the way out to Catford soon.

Wow ! I'd no idea that they were so cheap. Regarding maintenance etc, I'm no electrician, but I'm assuming that they have brushes,coils, that sorts of thing, which will eventually wear/burn out ? Maybe the gov. should be promoting apprenticeships for maintaining this technology? After reading your posts I must say that I'm a lot more enthusiastic about them. I really hope you enjoy your new car. Take care.

The electric part is obviously the battery, which has a long life and comes with a long warrenty. When servicing there's just the tyres and suspension so it's very cheap to service as no engine, oil etc etc.

I'm certainly my not an expert but their reliable as thes not really much to go wrong .
