Dobutamine stress echocardiogram

Hi friends, i have an appointment for one of these tests soon, and i am worried. Is it straight forward, and how do you feel? I had a cardio stress test on the treadmill recently which was awful, i couldnt breathe and felt dreadful. Heart was pounding. Any reassurance would be appreciated, thank you.

Thank you for the info, ive read it and what the appointment letter said. I was just a bit worried because having copd and chest tightness especially when exerting , i dont want to feel like i did on the treadmill. I think thats what the drug is for that they put in the cannula. I’m not too worried now, except that i am allergic to dye they sometimes use. Had a bad reaction to it when i had a ct chest scan and hd to be treated for the reaction which was unpleasant.

"please make the doctor aware of any allergies or concerns before the procedure starts"

Yes, i will make sure of that , i don’t want a reaction, it was frightening.

Good luck, sheepdog 🌸. Hope all goes well for you. If you remember to mention your allergy, all should be reasonably ok? Let us know how it goes....

I had no problem having it done with no after effects.

Thank you for your reply, reassuring. I just want to find out if i have angina or anything so i can get right treatment and relax. Its bad enough coping with copd and getting meds right.

Hi,

I have had this test done with no problems. The doctor doing the test did a detailed questionairre first, including any allergies. The test was then explained in detail. Once the test started, I was monitored by an attending nurse & the doctor while a technician did the scan. I wasn't aware of the drug being injected and the most uncomfortable thing was the scan probe being pushed hard against my ribs during the procedure. I had no after effects at all. I hope you too find it an easy process to go through.

Thats reassuring, thank you. I’m sure i will be ok. Just bit worried in case they wanted to use a dye, as i am very allergic to it.

My test didn't include the need for the dye, but just tell them about your allergy.
