Doctors appointment

I went to the doctors again and she told me that it is most likely asthma as my symptoms are very similar, but I will only find out after my spirometry test in 2 weeks. She also had me do am ECG just in case it could be my heart, however it all came back clear and she re assured me that there is nothing major wrong with me as my x ray was clear and so was my chest and my blood tests were normal, therefore I am technically perfectly healthy.

After my spirometry I will see my doctor again to review everything, and if its not asthma and I'm still like I am now, I will be referred to a respiratory clinic. If it is asthma I will obviously go the asthma nurse.

My doctor also told me that because I have been ill for so long with no explanation I probably have some anxiety too. But I have never had it before as I am barely ill so she has given me techniques to improve my breathing.

I still have my costochondritis symptoms, but it has only been 1 week, so I'm still having cramping and stabbing feelings on my chest but luckily they come and go. I think my back sensations are improving and I think i am getting better with my breathing. So I think everything might be getting better.

Hello Helena

I was diagnosed with asthma last year and now take Fostair regularly!

Symptoms just cleared up. I was stunned to have developed asthma at my age.

Good luck

Good morning Helena, you sound very positive and your results look good. So just one test to see if it's asthma, fingers crossed you continue to improve and don't need further tests. Every best wish for a good outcome and many years of good health.

Things sound more positive for you now. I've had asthma for a good few years and usually the inhalers keep it in check. I now also have COPD and bronchiectasis and am not always sure which is causing me the problem so often have to take antibiotics and steroids. Still, the pills always seem to do the trick if the inhalers fail. Hope you get good support from the asthma nurse. xx Moy
