Hi, I have been prescribed Carbocisteine 375, all was fine at the start, now in my third month and the irritation on my back is unbearable, now spreading to arms and legs. I noted that this could be a side effect. Has anyone else experienced this.

Hi robinc10 I take carbo with no side effects at all, I would suggest seeing your g.p to discuss this and check it is a side effect and not your body telling you something else is up. I say this as I know when I'm going to be ill as it starts in my back. Hope you get it sorted, keep us posted xx
Have been to the GP, gave me some cream which was useless and some antihistamine which works slightly. As I said on another reply I stopped taking Carbo three days ago and am seeing a slight improvement
Do you have steroid based inhalers as well? They can be the cause of itchy skin.
After trying many creams and ointments via the GP, found 2 that work for me
Balneum cream and Canestan HC cream.
Hope you have someone to help get it on your back
