Newbie to asthma.

Hi, I've been having breathing difficulties for a little over a week now, I had a similar thing just over a month ago that went on its own. This time though, the doc prescribed me a course of antibiotics that didn't work, I was back and forth to the hospital as I was really struggling to get a lungful of air. My doc suspects asthma, so has put me on an inhaler (blue) and a course of prednisolone, I'm 3 days into the course. My breathing is slightly better today. I'm a little confused though, I'm 35, run 20-25 miles a week, and this has all of a sudden come on?! Has anyone else's asthma started this way?

Kind regards

Luke

Adult onset asthma is very common and there could be many factors involved. Have you been given a definite diagnosis via either a peak and flow meter test or a spiromentry? x

I have no definite diagnosis, that's what the doctors at the hospital suspect. I'm due to see the asthma clinic in 8 weeks. My peak flow is very good, 750.... I'm so confused. How long do flare ups last?

I am surprised they can't give you a spirometry test at your surgery as I thought they all could these days. I don't know why you have to wait so long for a diagnosis. x

I have no idea. Like I say, I'm.very confused and quite worried. To go from running 5 miles in 40 minutes to being this tight chested in 24 hours is so unusual.
