Hello loukia01 .

How awful for you. You must be exhausted. Do you cough mostly during the day or is it at night as well? It must cut into your sleep time. 😐

I see you've had an x-ray and asthma has been ruled out. The other things I can think of is post nasal drip, a lingering infection or sometimes angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, prescribed for high blood pressure can sometimes cause chronic cough in some people. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). When stomach acid flows back into the esophagus can be the cause of chronic cough too.

Just a few suggestions to bring up with your medical team. I'm sorry you're suffering with this and hope the underlying cause can be found and treated soon.

Sending warm wishes.

Coughs are just awful I know.

A possibility is acid reflux (GERD) youndont always get heartburn with it, it can typically cause a cough and is usually worse after you've eaten especially at night after dinner. Gaviscon helps.

An allergy test might be a good idea it's just a quick blood test, in case your sensitivity to something, we can pick allergies up as we get older we're not always born with them.

But I'd definitely go to the GP and insist they look into what's causing it and not just leave you. There's always things that can be done.

I’ll deffo go back to the doctors , thanks for the help x

Hello Loukia

Maybe time to ask for a CT scan I think.

Did you have spirometry as well?

Let us know how you are getting on.

Take Care

Hello , I’m 14 and I have gone to my gp about 5 times . They said it will pass by February , but I’m still coughing non stop. I’m not asthmatic but at night my gp said to use it when I’m coughing really bad so it can calm it down. I think I’m gonna go back to my gp tho and see what happens. I’ll let u know how I get on x

have you had this before? Does the inhaler help? Have you been referred to consultant? Have you had steroids tablets? Have you tried a cough suppressant ? X

I haven’t had this before and the inhaler doesn’t do much but it makes my chest feel less tight. And no consultant they just told me to go back after three months ( If the cough don’t go away ) and it hasn’t gone. I haven’t tried a cough suppressant or steroid tablets. I think I might go to my gp tomorrow and I’ll update u on how I am x
