I believe this can be the case with Scoliosis but whether it is in your case, that is something the specialist should determine. Arteriel blood gas test will show if you are. Chat with BLF helpline tomorrow, or check back with your specialist or GP.

Best wishes

Hi. I have kyphoscoliosis, not sure if that is same thing. My lung function is only 20% and this is due to my lungs being so squashed up due to curve. I would suggest asking for referral to respiratory clinic where they can do tests such as lung function, etc. Are you breathless?

at the moment yes but otherwise no it just when i was in hospital the doctor said this might be normal oxygen levels for due to your curves squashing ur lungs it just got me thinking .

As I said it may be worth seeing a specialist. My breathing gradually got worse as I got older, partly due to lung function. I’m 66 now, and the Brompton see me regularly.

Hi mixy i also have scoliosis and i was told by my back specialist that as we get older with the condition the pressure from the curved spine will put more pressure on the internal organs which in turn will lead to health problems and people with scoliosis shouldn,t smoke as it will cause breathing problems, scoliosis is totally pants x
