Still waiting for diagnosis

Had my challenge test done, and the technician doing it said to me that I do have Asthma, after 7 years nearly of been told that they don't think i have asthma. My appointment with the specialist isn't until the 26th March, and he is aware of my results, but hasn't moved my appointment. Not sure what the next step is, cause I'm on the highest of inhalers, I take Steride 500 twice a day, Spirivia 2 puffs a day, Singluair one at night, and the antibiotic once a day. And I'm still breathless and struggling with exercise. At this stage I am really fed up, and worry that they won't come up with anything else. It is so hard as I worry every day, and hate that I can't do exercise or normal things like everyone else. especially when they haven't really come up with a reason for it. I have 100% lung function, so I really don't know. My GP is trying to diagnose me with Fibro, cause of the pain I experience on my ribs and chest, and said that usually people with Asthma don't experience pain. Would appreciate any advice!!!

There are lots of other/newer inhalers so don't lose hope. :)

Suppose that's the next option if they finally diagnose me with asthma

There are various options for inhalers for asthma but also for other lung conditions. You could ask for your inhalers to be reviewed. :)

Hi Mellypad I am pleased that you have 100% lung function . It maybe just finding the right inhaler. It is worth looking at the triggers for your asthma. My dog died and I made the very sad decision not to replace her I also got rid of carpets and in a very short space of time I was able to reduce the inhalers to one in the morning. I feel for you as you need answers and it is such a shame that you have to wait so long to see specialist. Good Luck.

Hi rossie1942,thanks for reply. I am currently on steride 1000mg, spiriva two puffs, singular tablet at night, and the antibiotics for the mucus, cause of bronchiectasis. Yes I think I have a few triggers, warmth and cold I know, and exercise. I'm frustrated cause my doctor keeps telling me I have fibromyalgia but I don't think I do. Hopefully specialist will have answers.

Hold on in there it may take time but I am sure that they will get to the bottom of your illness. All the best.

I know, it's just hard sometimes to keep moving forward, when my body keeps pulling me back. Have a new part time job which I love, and that keeps me going. Dealing with the sudden death of my mum last April too, I don't think the grief is helping. 42 this year and want to be able to live my life with my kids. Fingers crossed they will come up with something new.

Hi there. I’m not asthmatic so I can’t comment on inhalers but I do get recurrent bouts of chest pain which are pleuritic and/or costochondritis. I don’t have fibromyalgia and it’s not a dx that you want to be lumped with but my chest pain is inflammatory.

I do wonder if my is the same, how do they diagnose this. The lower part of my right rib is very sore to touch.

Some of it is supposition. Costochondritis is absolute agony.

Hello Mellypad .

I don't have asthma so I can't give any practical advice on it, but I just wanted to say I hope with the right cocktail of meds you will start to improve. I remember before I got diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis it took months to get to the bottom of it. I thought was going mad. So, in your case seven years of wanting answers.... I cannot imagine. I am glad things seems to be progressing albeit slowly .

Please hang in there.

Sending you lots of happy thoughts.
