100 days smoke free !

Well after 28 years of smoking at least 20 cigarettes a day, today marks 100 days smoke free !! And what a 100 days it’s been.

I have experienced every negative emotion known to man and how my husband is still with me is a miracle. Haha.

I have been through so much these last few months. Diagnosed with cancer in October, at the age of 43 and the mother of 8 year old twin boys was just horrendous. Stopped smoking on 6th November and had cancer surgery on 24th November then the long and painful at times recovery and then xmas with all the gatherings and drinking and I am so so proud that I did all this smoke free !!!

I got the all clear from my consultant and I asked him what I can do to try reduce my chances of this cancer coming back and he replied ... what you have already done, stop smoking and never smoke again ! So each time I get a stupid craving I think of his words and can say with confidence that I will never smoke again. NOPE..... Not One Puff Ever.

That’s not to say that I don’t miss smoking because I still do and guess I always will and actually still feel bitter that I can never smoke again but suppose it’s still early days.

Good luck to each and every one of you in your stopping smoking and you can all do it if you really want to !

Many, many congratulations on achieving non-smoker status. Well done. :)

Instead of thinking about being deprived of tobacco look at it another way. You have escaped a con artist who pretended to be your friend and supporter whilst robbing you of your health.

Well done you that's amazing! It's so hard I know, I gave up few years ago and even now although I don't actually want one as I know it would make me feel sick and cough I still sometimes miss it an how it made me feel back then when I was younger and better health! But now I know it would make me feel awful so would never touch it.

You've been so brave and getting though all that will just make you stronger and your boys will be super proud of a warrior mummy!

No fags! Watch alcohol intake, vitamins! And I can't stress enough how important the 5 a day are to keep you healthy with some exercise too. Stick with that and you'll be great.

Good luck xx

Very well done. 👏👏👏👏👏

I too congratulate you on giving up. I gave up almost 2 years ago prior to being diagnosed with severe emphysema, I am now embarking on the same journey with cancer as you have gone through. Thank you for your positive post.

well done to you Kathy - many congrats that is a huge thing to have reached 100 days non smoker. Your body will be getting the benefits and your clothes, hair and skin will all be better for it. Both my mum and dad gave up smoking when in their late 40s as I nagged them, my dad then went onto mints as I think he needed to chew something. Your whole family must be delighted and very proud of you. x

Well done. After a while you will wonder why you ever smoked at all. Take care.
