Gosh I’m really sorry bcuz I know EXACTLY how you feel: over anxious, afraid and completely out of patience( sound about right?) and the first thing I’ve got to tell you is you’re gonna make yourself sick worrying about it. You don’t have any real proof there’s anything wrong actually sounds like somebody was trying to do some “guess work” and I don’t think they realize sometimes that we are human beings w/feelings and souls. Not just the stacks of papers that Represent us .If I thought one of my team of healthcare providers was withholding information I’d most likely walk or roll into the office and slam my fist onto somebody’s desk and say” I wanna know NOW so make it happen”! Or there’s always trying to kill em with kindness( I rarely choose this one) and bring donuts and be real sweet then break out a few tears and just say” please help me”. I apologize that I don’t know your answers nor would I try guessing. The only thing I know for sure is worrying can make you very sick an it’s not worth it. Take it slow an easy and try to put your brain to use on another subject that requires you putting your concentration into something else. Good luck don’t forget to tell us what you find out since you’ve got me on the edge of my seat wanting to hear that it’s no big deal an easily fixable or it’s nothing at all. Peace

Just phone the hospital, ask to speak to mr/ms consultants secretary and ask him/her, he/she can access the consultants referral notes x

My father in law has not had good experiences at Southampton hospital coincidentally.

The hard part about these sort of problems is that you are trying to do battle with ‘the System ‘ when you feel least able to.

If there is a family member or friend who can help you that’s useful.

If I were you I would ring the consultant every day asking for something to be done. Be assertive never aggressive and maybe bullet point all you need to say, even if you’re repeating yourself every day. Tell them you will call back tomorrow to see what progress has been made; don’t let them say they will call you.

If you can bother them enough they will sort out your needs to get rid of you. I worked in a GP surgery and for a local authority health team and the squeaky hinge gets the oil. Honestly!!

If this does not work then you are entitled to your data. All you have to do is make the correct application; see ‘the Information Commissioners ‘ website for template letters to make a Subject Access Request correctly. It is surprisingly easy!

This is not quick, however if you ask for the correct stuff, time frame, etc, then you will get all your notes etc. This really annoys whoever has to fulfil the request and takes time and effort. If they get it wrong or do not complete in time there is serious punitive implications and can be big fines.

Sometimes threatening to make a SAR will get things moving, as long as you appear serious.

I did this for my Mum at her GPs surgery. They stopped messing her about after that. It was like reading a catalogue of bad practice. Breathtaking.

Not the solution for everyone but everyone should remember that we are all entitled to see our Data held by services and sometimes if you remind them of this then things are cleared up. It should also be no more than £50 absolutely top price but usually always a lot less (Mums was £15) and also in a hard format you can understand.

Some Consultants, doctors, hospitals etc will walk all over you if they can. When they realise you know how to get your data they may treat you differently because you will be able to read everything that has, or HASNT, happened and hold them accountable.

Regards and hope that it doesn’t become necessary to do that,

Phil

I'm under Southampton...although in a different department, but I've never had any problems...been there for 20 years...so plenty of tome for experience. The secretaries are usually a good first place to start!!

Hope things get sorted soon!
