Would anxiety pills help my breathing anit

I have copd also and my oxagen is 94 l think. Im moderate to severe. L wss sick for awhile lungs were imflamwd but finally have bounced back but my breathing is terrianle. My daughter thinks anxiety is part prob. It gets worse when.l know l am going out or if l hsve to babysit do you thinking its worth a try to get on anxiety meds just to see if it helps

There is no dought that anxiety can affect your breathing. However perhaps you should discuss coping methods with your GP or nurse first before taking medications. You may benefit from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy ( CBT). It can help. The important thing is not to allow it to get worse before taking action.

My Dr dosent even suggest seeing anyone else. She dosent do anything. Its so frustrating

It’s really hard one anxiety comes with diagnosis but it’s definitely worth speaking to

Oh yes I'm the same just thinking of having to leave my cosy hideaway my breathing becomes a lot worse even when I go to shower my breathing kicks in before I'm even in the shower room and if guest come visiting I find I'm more breathless its horrid ,The mind is a powerful force has sometimes when I have had no time to think and have needed to go into action quick like catch my dog before he runs out the open door or quickly dart across the room to answer a phone before it stops ringing I dont feel at all breathless ? it definatly a weird old illness where your mind can take control xx

Yes l am the same. It is so frustrating. Before l got sick the last time my breathing wasent good but a whole lot better then it is now. ?? I go to a specilist but because. Unless oxegen is real real low he dosent do or say anything just seee you in 3 months? And my Dr is useless also.

I have been referred now to see specialist after pushing it I haven't sadlly got a lot of faith in gp surgery has the nurse we see is only a general nurse not specialist in lung and breathing issues I also need a anti anxiety med has I suffered with it before copd but its overbearing now x

Thats why lm going to Drs this week to get meds for anxiety. If thats not whats helping to make it worse then at least l will know. Right now all l see is my lungs getting narrower by what l read but even then l dont even get yhat from any drs.l hope tje meds work for you Good Luck.

benodiaphines slow breathing downeg diazepam or Valium but only prescribed rarely long term if ur in the uk, activan or lorazepam are prescribed for breathing more think its cos they are short acting.opiates are prescribed too a few people oon here take oramorth,

My PCP gives me Xanax. I take half a 1 mg. each evening and it's the best I feel all day. My lung doc won't prescribe them, but my PCP believes they really help me, and they do. I know they are addictive, but who gives a damn? They help me so much. Addictive? As if taking Spiriva, Symbicort and Ventolin every single day is NOT addictive. These Xanax are a Godsend to me. I have very relaxed evenings and can sleep. I don't struggle to breathe. I know that many doctors don't like to prescribe them, but then many doctors don't suffer from COPD. I say anything that makes you feel better is worth taking. I don't feel any bad side effects from them. Now, antidepressants -- the side effects were horrible.

I find a couple of glasses of red wine does it for me. Cooler in the evening, totally left alone, no stress, no questions, just enjoying myself doing crosswords, reading a book, watching a film etc. and my breathing is so different! I don't have any trouble sleeping. I'm fine when I wake up and it starts the minute I sit up and start my day!

Just would add that if I am expected to go out of my comfort zone, I just disintegrate - it takes me many weeks to psyche myself up to be able to do that.. My daughter was getting married last October and I spent nearly a year preparing myself in my mind to get there. A month before I didn't even have an outfit! Mind over matter! I got there with chosen outfit, my family were stunned, no one expected me to do it. I clung to my husband as if he was a lifebelt! I had one or two dicey moments but everyone was so kind including friends of my daughter's who knew what it meant for me to be there and I survived. But this is no way to live and so you must do what ever works for you always!

You can start by a light anxiolytic and at the same time learn to practice mindfulness meditation, breathing for relaxation will do wonders. It needs practice at first I have done it for a few years and it has become addictive because instead of popping in a pill, I can switch off from anxiety and relax.

I include links of YouTube videos you can start practicing with when you have a quiet time to yourself, earphones in. After a while you will learn that process and choose the one you like best, you will do it on your head without the need to be guided. But give it all the time you need..
