I started two weeks ago with Char infection that got worse and worse. After two referalls to a and e they diagnosed pneumonia. But the constant ripping/burning/stabbing pains in my left side are horrific and causing me so much pain. Had another trip to a and e lastnight and they’ve said it’s pluracy. He’s give me liquid morphine which I’ve had theee doses of but yet again I’m stuck in agony and the kin is spreading into my shoulder. They’ve said everything else is clear X-rays, heart monitor etc. Anyone else been crippled with this chest pain ? I have asthma too but it’s not too bad at minute. Take tramadol/amatryptaline/co codamol/naproxen nothing eases pain

So sorry yes had pleurisy and it's agony. Make sure you keep a notepad of what your taking and when so you don't overdo it, it's very easy to loose track when your tired and in pain. Usually you have antibiotics for that, have you got some? Clarithromycin is a good one to have, although sometimes they give amoxicillin, steer clear of Erythromycin though, it's terrible with side effects.

Hot water bottle is a help, pain should start to ease off slightly in a week and then it's very gradual, and varies from person to person. Stay in, stay warm lots of hot drinks. Hot boiled water very good, honey too. If it's gets worse or not easing at all in a week go back. You should have antibiotics though I think.

Take care xx

I’ve had amoxicillin and doxycycline and nothing is shifting it. Only got told I Had pneumonia after itnhad more or less cleared and then they put me in the doxycycline which I’ve jist finished today and went to hospital yesterday who prescribed morphine 4 times a day but it’s not touching the pain as he said it is now pleurisy. I’m drained, keep burning up and just generally fed up xx

Oh I'm sorry darling, I know it is a really painful condition. Rest and hot water is the best cure I found. I only had paracetamol for the pain when I had it a I'm allergic to codeine and can't take ibruprofen either, so was nightmare. It does take time but should start to ease som what next week the receiver time is quite slow I felt drained for good 6 weeks.

My husband is just recovering from pneumonia, Flu and pleurisy. The pleurisy was by far the thing the bothered him the most. No pain killers touched it but he found wrapping a scarf around his back and using that almost as a brace eased the pain slightly when coughing. I hope it gets better soon 🤞🏻
