I have been receiving pip for 2 years. I received a form asking if my condition is better or worse. I filled in the form stating that I am worse.arthritis is now in my hands, knees, back, shoulders. Before it was only in my back. A phone call today to say someone is coming on Monday to assess me. Why at home ?

Hello carobell .

I don't know anything about PIP but I was was wondering if they just thought it better for you not to have to venture out to see them? I know it's very cold and no doubt icy outside.

At any rate, I hope it all goes well. Do let us know how it goes if your like to.

Take care.

I have had a visit at home before, although my last one was at their office. The interview was the same, but I think they like to see your surroundings and how you manage. Make sure you are well prepared, they usually turn up early. As well as answering their question, ask some of your own, make notes of things you want to ask. I always ask them what their qualifications are and how much they know of my conditions( my main problems are Bronchiectasis, Asthma, and Fibromyalgia). The guy that came to my house was a paramedic the last one was a mental health nurse. I asked both what understanding they had of my conditions and how it can affect people. Both were a bit vague the nurse said she was going to Google bronchiectasis. I was not impressed,I was worried, but I did get my PIP. Try to take some control, I know it's not easy I was terrified, but they are coming into your home, try to show and tell them as much as you an about how you manage. Hope all goes well. X

I'm also on PIP, but because of the Distance to Travel, and my Health, they came to do a Home Visit....This was September 19th, fast Forward, I phoned them Yesterday Morning to say I hadn't Heard from them, Suck in Cheeks, they are going to process urgently...Someone had Forgotten by the sounds of it. They are "Capita". I think majority of "Admin" in all levels of Today's working life do not have the " Pride in their work" so lax a daisy, so to speak. I know I should be on the Highest Band now, and Miss out on other Claims ie, Pension Credit for one. So when the person comes, they should asses you cordingly and if they Love their Job, it should be a Correct Decision. Good Luck.....

Hope all goes well, I have a home visit assessment coming up on 20th December, and I would be really interested to know what they ask you. I was on DLA but now have to apply for PIP which I understand is harder to get. I am concerned the assessor will not know about my health conditions. The alternative was to travel to one of their centres which is 43.5 miles away and I could not manage to do that x Good luck

Hi carobell

PIP home assessment don't worry I'm on it as well they get all the information from hospital consultant doctor etc before they come to you it's every 2 or 3 years first review that's why there comeing when they come they will take your claim higher or same not low as it can only go up or stay same I got oxygen delivery that's why I can't go in details I'll explain later or if need anymore info let me know thanks

Whether the pip visit is at home or in an office the format is the same. Any assessment is difficult and creates anxiety and you can request a friend or relative to be with you. My first pip interview was meant to take place in my home, however it was during the big computer hack so it was cancelled and rearranged to an office visit 2weeks later. I just told it as it is and received my pip. You are also entitled to appeal if you believe they have made an incorrect decision. Just tell the truth and ask close ones to fill you in on how they perceived your illness affects you, as often we minimise the impact. Best wishes Rose

If you can go on line and read what questions they will ask and how you need to word your answers.

Also always good to copy any previous forms so you can read what you said then.

If it’s like my father’s they give you points, it was all on line.

And have someone with you for support.
