Hi, I've had copd for a couple of years now, I'm on inspiolto inhaler 2puffs once a day and Combivent Respimat inhaler as needed, also take 5mg prednisone daily. The pred seems to help but still out of breath all the time, even to walk across the room. I was wondering if raising the dose would help, maybe 10mg. daily. Am hoping to vacation in Mexico in Dec. and don't want to end up in a Mexicali again don't even want to think about it. I'm getting anxiety.

Hi

I would not increase your dosage without first speaking to your GP.

Have you been given the correct information and dosage on your other inhalers?

Combivent Respimat is normally a daily usage inhaler,

NB

"The recommended dose for COMBIVENT RESPIMAT is 1 inhalation 4 times a day.

Do not use COMBIVENT RESPIMAT more often than your doctor has directed. Deaths have been reported with similar inhaled medicines in asthma patients who use the medicine too much."

Combivent Treatment Guidelines (see above link from stone-UK).

yes that is the recommended dosage for it. I take it as well, but before you do anything ask your doctor first.

Hi sanfelipe, how much of the Combivent are you taking? Stones link is very good, as I do get some side effects when I use it as a nebuliser solution.

I also take 5mg of prednisolone daily, unless I have an exacerbation, then I consult my doctor. Please consult yours before your holiday...take care now and enjoy.

Hi Sanfelipe. I would not alter your "5mg prednisone daily" without asking your doctor. It is normal to be anxious about travel with pre med conditions.

All you can do is ask your doctor are you fit to go, make sure you have enough rescue medication and above all, answer all travel insurance questions accurately . The climate in Mexico should should help, the only time COPD affected me was an a very humid Corfu, yet the year before 44 degrees in turkey helped more than hindered.

Enjoy mexico, I am green with envy ;-)

I appreciate your help, thanks.

I have to raise my pred when I travel then you get back to your dosage by tapering over 2 or 3 days
