Hi levina, I see you have copd, which quite often leads to hyperinflation of the lungs (your lungs get bigger). This in turn flattens your diaphragm which can squash your stomach and there is nowhere for it to go, but outwards. A lot of us suffer from this, including skinny me.

Thank you for your reply There must be something we could do to get rid of that bloating

I wish there was, but it is just another symptom that we have no choice over. I have gone from a 28" to a 34/36" waist in a year.

A lot of expense, buying new clothes :(

Hi 2greys.....thank goodness for elasticated waistbands I say, and long tops .

I graduated to elastic waistbands this Sumner. It's fantastic. I don't feel like I'm suffocating so much. Especially after a meal. 😁

Hello Levina.

As 2greys mentioned, hyperinflation is a problem with COPD sufferers. I would just add however that sometimes bloating in women can indicate a gynaecological issue. So perhaps have a chat with your doctor about it as well.

Do take care.

I was diagnosed in February of this year. After struggling to put weight on since I was 19yrs old( 7 and a half stone), I'm now 10 stone. My inhalers are not steroid based, neither as my diet changed. I've gone from a size ( 6-8) in clothes size, to size 12. Now I look as if I'm full term pregnant. Not been to doctors yet about this yet. My main concern at the moment is trying to put socks, shoes on. My stomach hurts and I am more aware of my breathing. I get more than 30mins exercise per day. As I'm only mild to moderate COPD, I'm at a bit of a loss a

Hello Sonsafc . I definitely think you need to book an appointment. It could be water weight. Like Hidden said it may be something that needs urgent looking in to. Please keep us updated if you'd like to. *gentle hug*

Caspian's, I'll ring today hun. May have to wait a few weeks though for an appointment. I'll keep you all updated. I'm on medication for urine urgency, so may be water retention. In a catch 22 if that's the problem.
