I remember, or "feel" I remember, being of such an age, too young to really speak, old enough to be aware.....lying awake in bed/cot one early summer evening........still light, I could hear a blackbird chattering outside ( I had no idea then that it was a blackbird but now I know it was)
I sensed a change in the room, a presence........No-one had come in, but I was no longer alone....and felt so secure.....loved, watched over............and I wonder...............
Did an Angel play?
If an Angel did play, I ask, was it then? The dream remembered time that comes to mind?……
That other time so long ago, that strangely meandered to be this ?
The long ago child eyed day, that still, as then were now and now were then, reaches me?
Implores me, loves me, teaches me, Is it yet still? Is it still here? Is it still You? Is it still me?
I still ask, , I still hear answers… I think it is.
You shimmered, I remember, silent in the sunlight and spoke to me as quietly and quite invisibly
as dawns whisper in the breeze, sang to me through songbirds, painted pictures with the clouds and trees
Silent unknown You, yet somehow always known, Who were You?
That opened me, blessed me, found me, came beside me and made me know life
That in blinding soft light of unfolding wonders set me free.
Was it then? when I was nought but a twelvemonthling
that I was held and loved and given life by You,
Did you come to see that I could see?
to be sure I was sent my Soul…….?
and sent on my way?
to become to begin,
to Be?
