Feeling fed up!

I’m in the midst of a flare up at the moment that has reared its head at the worst time! It’s my best friends 40th and we were due to go away this weekend.. it’s been planned for more than a year and I’ve just had to let them all down and tell them I can’t go even though I organised it in the first place! Have felt shocking since Sunday up all night coughing every night and just completely lifeless! Don’t you just hate being the ill one sometimes!! 😞

Have you got your standby meds

No I’ve not been given any and last time I saw the consultant he told me not to go straight to the drs to leave it a few days as it might not be an infection? Think I’m going to have to get to the go though x

If your coughing up rubbish, there is a good chance you have an infection. When you see your doctor, let him make the decision. He will probably ask for a sample to send of for tests. I would also ask for standby meds so if the results come back positive, you can start taking them straight away

That’s a shame but sadly a reality at times. Hope you soon feel better and can celebrate your friends birthday when you recover. Xxxxxx

Yes Knicho, being the 'sick one' sucks sometimes, which is not a very polite way to describe it but a fairly accurate one.

You do become accustomed to cancelling things over the years but obviously, the bigger the occasion the harder it is. And this is obviously a huge occasion that you'd been looking forward to a lot. The letting everyone down thing is silly. I'm telling you this, yet I know I'd feel exactly the same. Your friends will obviously feel upset that you can't come but they'll be upset on your behalf, not upset because you've let them down.

When you're feeling better maybe you could have an evening out with the same group of friends and try and re-create the celebratory atmosphere. Not much but a small possible consolation.

Hugs,

BJ

Oh Knicho I totally sympathise!!! Managing ill health and stress of making plans then cancelling.... so so hard!!’

It’s my grandsons 2nd birthday this week and as he lives 2 1/2 hours away and gets so many colds, chest problems , I’ve hardly seen him.

Also my parents 70th (!) wedding anniversary the day after.

So this week have my grandsons birthday followed by a surprise posh afternoon tea out with family for my parents.

Have got a list of other health problems ( won’t go into as it’s a lung forum) at most meant and really hoping to be ok. Very stressful! Seems a full thing me job managing my health ( and I know you have 2 boys and a job!!).

Mention this to you to make you feel better that you’re not alone. Always makes me feel better if feel I’m not the only one ... or people understand as they’ve experienced these all this!

Hope you soon feel better and no everyone will understand... not that it helps your frustration!

Xxx

It’s really helpful to hear I’m not along actually.. feel really guilty that I’ve not done anything with the boys this half term either! I just need to bite the bullet and get to the drs I think I’ve been putting it off because I really don’t want to take even more tablets!!!

Oh dear I know it's always me cancelling everything at last minute, had to do a lot of that this month. Main thing is take care, I find lots of hot water helps, I drink about 8 mugs a day water from the kettle and also camomile tea in the evening.

When you start feeling better and your sure your up to it you can arrange some lovely things. Dinner out with friends, day trip with the kids, cinema evening etc, really fun things. That's what I'm going to do. I felt bit better yesterday and today took my son to the park which was lovely then been in the garden in the sun whilst he's been playing with the leaves and ive had my tea out there. A few weeks ago I thought I'd be in bed for the rest of the year! It's gradually getting a little easier and it's just a question of being patient and not giving up.

Hope your starting to feel better soon xx

Thank you it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel at the moment and you reminded me that it will go away in the end x

Hi Knicho, I am sorry to hear that you are so sick. I feel for you not being able to attend your best friend's 40th birthday. And it is especially disappointing given you had organised it. Yes it is so awful when you have to miss out because of health issues.

My brother in law passed away last week and his funeral was on Friday last and I was to fly interstate to attend and came down sick with a lung infection on Wednesday the day before we were to leave. My husband had to go as he was leading out in the funeral and I had prepared the ceremony. It is disappointing. I hope you feel better soon.

I’m sorry to hear that....it makes you so cross at the illness doesn’t it.. I just want to feel normal occasionally and most of the time I accept that cannot be but then at times like this I feel cross and upset again.

Yes it does. We keep living in hope that tomorrow will be better! Take care and get well soon Knicho.

Hi all

Been to the drs this afternoon got antibiotics, increased mucodyne and a different inhaler.. I feel a bit better already as the inhaler seems to be helping which is a bonus plus my lovely husband has taken over and let me rest and sleep all day xx
