Symbicort for 3 months

Hi. I would like to know if anyone else has noticed any particular symptoms, such as very dry skin, hoarse voice, constantly clearing throat, sweating and many hot flashes day and night. Thank you!

Hi......I have used Symbicort for a number of years and would not change it for any other but

I do find that if I don't keep up a strict gargle & rinse after each use I will have throat problems.

Started latest craze......making our own sausages ....should be fun , looking at the recipes it will be rather expensive if we get t wrong.

Been on Symbicort twice a day over 10 years, use it before I clean my teeth and gargle and brush my teeth and mouth. My voice has changed due to thick mucus which is a different issue and there are tecniques for clearing the throat, drinking plenty of water is beneficial. If you are getting more mucus it sounds like the Symbicort is doing it's job. Consult your Doctor or COPD nurse who may have other ways of helping.

I don’t like dry powder inhalers they tend to stick to my mouth and throat. I tried symbicort it didn’t suit me. Hot flushes and sweating sometimes they all do if you are in that age range anyway. They are bronchodilators but dilate your vessels as well really..just as a hot cup of coffee would.

Dry skin maybe because of the steroids content which thins the skin.

There are so many inhalers just go back to the GP and say it doesn’t agree with you xx

Have been using symbicort for 11 years and it has been a great help. I aggree with others that a good gargle each time stops the side effects you mention.

I have been on Symbicort for about 3 years now I started on the turbohaler and then a couple of months ago they gave me the ordinary inhaler which I feel is much better I do sometimes get an itching but the benefits of Symbicort outweigh the side effects I have been so much better admittedly I have also been on a PR course and have continued to go to the gym since then from not being able to do 5 minutes on treadmill I can now do half an hour and have lost nearly 1.5 stone I feel the combination of the new symbicort inhaler and PR course have really helped me I agree with the other people to rinse mouth properly after use I also always have Jakemans throat sweets for when I have trouble clearing my throat hope this helps.

Hi - inhalers can give you a hoarse voice. I have had one several times . I was also sent to have a camera put down in case there were problems from using the inhalers. Maybe see your GP and ask to be checked as it could be other underlying causes, also I was told to really rinse my moth out after using the inhaler.

You don't say your age but your other symptoms sound menopausal.

I have used Symbicort for 3 years and if I fail to gargle and rinse moth well after application then my voice is hoarse. No other side effects to my knowledge but then I am on so many meds I wouldn't be sure anyway!!

Yes I was the same on symbicort. I had a thyroid tumour removed at the time and the consultant took me off it. I was choking and the consultant couldn’t understand why they’d give someone granuals if dust to breath in if they were irritated by dust!

I found symbicort useless to be honest and they found that the granuals of medication were triggering an asthma attack every time I used it. I was sweating and feeling light headed to. Get off it as soon as you can. The only reason they give it is that it’s cheap

Hi I sometimes get really dry skin on my arms and legs I've started moisturizing with aloe Vera cream every time I have a bath or shower that has helped loadsx

I have been using symbicort for a few years. During this time my skin has got thinner for sure - thought it was an age thing and also my legs were so dry and itchy I had to stop using bubble bath and shower gel. Now use non soap so itchy legs has gone i moisture them daily. I was told this is due to steroid use!

If there were something to replace symbicort that can help with my breathing I would go for it.
