Slippery elm

I have had a single lung transplant one year ago and about two months ago got a chest infection for which since then I've been on carbasistine to clear my mucous coz it's seems to get stuck! It doesn't seem to be doing very much at all, so on the Internet today I've found a herbal capsule from Holland and barret called slippery elm and it's supposed to helps with constant coughs and aid mucous and also aid sleep which I'm losing a lot of due to coughing. I'm just wondering if it wise to take this with me being on anti rejection meds and if it's safe and if anyone has heard of this or taking it. Any advice would E great

Check with your doctor first ejbid just to be sure. Feel better soon. Xxxx

only your doctor can answer that re carbocisteine you may come to a time when you can reduce your dose.

Ive taken slippery elm ejbid though not for a while - I used to make a tea with the powder, it's very mucilaginous. It's great for soothing the digestive membranes, not sure if it helps chest infections. Best to mention it to your GP or consultant if you are considering taking it.

My late father used to take a liquid preparation of Slippery Elm over sixty years ago....that was to try and soothe his stomach ulcer.

Please seek medical advice before trying,
