Past it?

When you are old and poorly,

You cannot help but think

You won't be coming here again,

As you enjoy your drink.

There comes a time when it's all too much

You no longer have the strength.

Aches and pains and breathlessness

Stop trips of any length.

The places that you loved so much,

Are they now out of reach?

The mountains and the hillsides,

The sand dunes and the beach?

Appointments here, appointments there.

You have to be around.

You can't afford to cancel them

Another won't be found.

But suddenly the sun comes out,

You see a week is free.

And before you know it

You're again out on a spree.

Never think you're 'past it'

You don't know what's in store.

Be ready there to grasp it,

When opportunity knocks on that door.

The photo is of Pendle Hill in the fight-path of the famous Pendle Witches. I took it earlier this year. It will be very busy around there at the end of next month.
