Smoking and vaping and oxygen!

During the education part of PR we were discussing oxygen amongst other things. The speaker said that people who smoked could not have oxygen due to fire risks also if they vaped they were also refused, something to do with electronics. Is that just in this area? Wiltshire. I ask really because some post say they smoke or vape whilst on oxygen. I'm not judging at all, I was just wondering. Lilian xxxxxxx

Yes, thank you Stone, that is more or less what was said at PR. When asked about people who may lie about smoking the reply was that they had a test which could determine whether the person had smoked within the past couple of hours. So it is a general rule then, I thought it might just be in my area. Hope you are well. Lilian xxxxxx

I am supposed to be on oxygen but my consultant refused, saying that he didn't want to be responsible for blowing me up because I still smoke!

I suppose with oxygen and smoking some people are more responsible than others. I was quite shocked when I heard about it at PR, especially vaping! I didn't think that would create any problems at all. I stopped smoking years ago, however if I still smoked and had to decide between smoking and oxygen I'm not sure what the decision would be, although I don't think I would still be alive had I carried on smoking. Hope you can find the inner strength to do what you know is best. Lilian xxxxxxx
