Mucus clearance device

Hi.

Has anyone got one of these devices.

I have just been reading up about them on the internet.

One is called a Flutter.

Yes, many people find them helpful for dislodging mucus. There's one called Acapella which is easier to use than the Flutter & also it's available on NHS. Some GPs don't seem to know this but can look it up & prescribe it for you.

I will look into this Acapella device sounds just what I need, and it's great it's on the NHS, I'll let you know if it works too.

I have the aerosure medic. I find it very helpful. It takes a bit of getting used to but now its really good. I had a check up with my respiratory nurse last week and she thinks the aerosure and the acapella are both excellent. I prefer the aerosure because it only takes approx 5 to 10 minutes to use each time.

Since I wrote the above three weeks ago I just want to add that the weather has affected me. As it gets colder I seem to need to clear more mucus. It now takes me about 20 minutes using the aerosure to clear my chest. However, I still think it is really good.

Hi yes I use an acapella given by pulmonary physio, I have used the flutter in the past and both Devices are fabulous for clearing out the mucus.it has been a saviour to my health as I have bronchiectasis.

I use the aerosure and it is excellent for getting mucus up off my chest, have been chest infection free since December,which is unknown for me.

When Mucus is stubborn I use my Flutter which the Doctor prescribed on NHS and I would not be without it.

What do you mean to far gone to use it, have you had any help with it ? Are you still as poorly now? Have you got plenty support from family or friends even. I hope that you do, I can only prey that your ok. Please let us know. X

had awful last few days..............no sleep. very hrad to get a psoition to get a breath..............tried ventolin with chamber, bricanyl, flutter.......... eucalyptus amd menthol steam breather, nebuliser with saline solution....................ne effects and just getting worse and weaker............no food possible...........hard to even speak........................takes an hour to work up the ten steps to bathroom.................yesterday very very bad.................last resort started rescue pack even though not typical chest infection sympoms.......................( rattly cough, wheezing etc) and today managed to come downstairs....................had banana some yoghurt and some oxtail soup................managing to type this...........................

My wife is very attentive but helpless really...................Yesterday she said popping to shop.......... Was a long time .Turns out been to GP......................Doc putting calls out to home care, community matron and respite hospice...........................Hope things get a bit easier................

I have an infection at the moment and I'm just starting to feel a little better, it's so good when you are on the mend.

You can get them on prescription from your GP xx

I went to pul' rehab, and this is what I do. bubble PEP. Look it up on line. Just need bottle, water and tube. Can use a larger type straw, like the ones from fast food places. Works for me, worth a try.
