Thanks MrsMummy....,

The 'kicker' is that what remains of the 'eye' of the storm should be over Atlanta Tuesday morning; I'm getting my second cataract removed 5:30am Tuesday...., WHAT ELSE CAN HAPPEN !!???

mrsmummy in reply to Dmactds

Well you will probably be so worried about the 'kicker' of the eye being over you that you don't even notice the cataract removal. Only upwards from here on in. Take care. ;)

My home is in North Fort Myers and we are in the "to get hammered" line of fire. I'm currently in an RV in NJ for the summer so I'm good for the time being - just prayin I have some place to go back to - lol. Hopefully it will peter out some by the time it hits Atlanta.

A friend of mine from my days at The Weather Channel lives in Ft. Myers and is riding out the storm there; he was our chief meteorologist back then and went on to retire from FedEx only a few years ago. He knows whereof he speaks and says his house was built to withstand 140 mph winds so he thinks he'll be safe.

It must be so worrying for you. I hope you also stay safe.

Thanks, MrsMummy. I'm sure there's a few more on here who are in the direct path or on the outskirts, which can still pack a heckuva wallop. Ok, everyone, take a deep breath (well, as deep as you can!) and keep fingers crossed and prayers going.

Dmactds, just focus on you're cataract surgery. I will keep you in my thoughts that your area doesn't get hit with a power outage - or at least not until after your surgery.

land fall Florida sometime tonight could make a mess of Presidents Trumps properties??? Don't worry about the cataract surgery it is a piece of cake.

Yes..., I've already had one eye done..., easy peazy...; it's not that, it's the weather and all the other chaos that's befallen me in the last two months that I've been trying to dog paddle and keep my head above...., I persevere.

Hi anthony634 ... fortunately, I live in England and don't have to worry about the horrible storm, bad weather yes, but nothing like hurricanes. However. I have got cataracts in both eyes and you have reassured me somewhat about having them removed!

in reply to MilkofMagnesia

after I had mine done my eyesight was remarkable need only specs for tv and fine work

I have always admired the stoicism that folks like yourselves who live in Hurricane path areas show, sometimes after 2 inches of rain in the uk the entire country goes into melt down, hope all goes well for you..........skis

You may be mistaking "scared s*#tless" for 'stoicism'...., but when in situations like this I always ask myself what are the choices..., and in this case, they're none to not any....; thanks for the well wishes.

Oh gosh, I hope you have a safe place to hunker down - it's frightening just seeing it on the telly. Thinking of you - stay safe.

I am in South Georgia, stay safe. If she continues on her path puts us just east of the eye. I really worry about power outages.

We moan about our weather here in the U.K but we never have to deal with weather like yours. I was in Florida last September when Hermione blew in - this is a very different animal. Stay safe xx

To all who posted their best wishes for my safety: generally, these hurricanes pretty much peter out before they ever get to Atlanta and we're left with very rainy weather for a bit; but this booger looks and sounds like the Devil incarnate and there's no telling where it'll end up..., and now I hear there's yet another one in "the bullpen" (Jose) warming up to make its way through the Caribbean on pretty much the same path as Irma.

It's just our luck this time around, I guess.

It was fear of the damage and helplessness that was the deciding factor that made us move from our mountaintop eirye. With hight we gained the views but also the wind speed. What it must be like for you when adding another 1000mph to what we experienced I can't imagine. Our thoughts The and prayers are with you all.

And we think the weather is bad here in Scotland. Hoping your symptoms are not playing up too.

Can't begin to imagine how you're coping.

All the best.

Hope all's well now & that you and yours are safe. My best friends nephew was on honeymoon in the BVI, they were right in it, stranded. All okay now, they're safe in Puerto Rico. Terrible times for people.
