X Ray Results & Hospital Report.

Well today all week tried getting X Ray report from my GP given last xray done hospital visit.

Firstly the said i cant have them THEN it was i have to see doctor THEN its i have to get them from hoslital.

Well that was it THEN i found myself laughing at receptionist desk guess like you do.

I do think they don't want me to have them see them AS the tried pricing them out of my reach £60

Anyway i sucked it in and said yer thats fine.

Then i asked about sputum sample AND receptionist said it was back and doctor had not looked at it yet.

So i said well its weekend and your shut saturday IS amazing how given test this no weekend provision or sense of urgency.

Guess all just have to survive MINUS £60

Xrays are picture files you can scroll and zoom. Are you expecting a picture or a print? I recall my consultant showing me dodgy bits of my lungs on screen. I couldn't really see what she was on about and it turned what they thought I had, I didn't. I wouldn't want a copy of a scan, I wouldn't know how to interpret it.

in reply to Inamoment

Hi NO am not after film am after x ray report that gp's get when you have xray

Jeff.Unless you have just completed your clinical radiologists trainee course, approx 5 yrs at degree entry level, you may well have wasted £60.unless of course you intend to go private in which case anticipate another few hundred pounds out of your savings for the consultation.Good luck however in your quest for information.........skis

in reply to skischool

Hi no i have no training .. but am ok at reading xray ct scan reports

Film would be nice BUT doctors dont give you them unless go private.

Puzzled as to why you want the film/xray?i fully understand that you can understand a written report and discuss it,s conclusions with your fully qualified consultant and your frustrations at having to wait to do so but i can not understand paying for something, which in all honesty, even with the best information on the internet would be a useless document to you without the training and skills to interpret and act upon what is actually represents. But hey ho its your money and body so good luck but i wouldn't advise others to follow suit unless they where going to a suitably qualified private consultant.........skis

Hi MY Last xray i had did looked pretty bad UPPER left quarter on fisure of lung AND thats where ihad oblong nodule growing on granuloma's calcifed lung tissue.

Is of concern as my lung doctor had said that had gone and give me all clear.

So when i asked for report doctors did not want me to have or see THEM.

In order to have good treatment i need to know really so can ask right questions.

Also when you have gp working for atos usaly the don't have your best intrest at heart.

When refusing to do letrers conferming infectiin rate condition.

Jeff,Have you ever considered the fact that maybe doctors and consultants could be actually telling you the truth and that they do not have a concern with your current condition,As you stated with your recent heart scare, eventually nothing was found and as you yourself has said it may have been a muscle sprain.Perhaps the search for too much information has actually raised your anxiety levels and maybe given you the impression that the NHS is not working in your best interests.I hope all will be resolved soon..........skis

in reply to skischool

Ya do raise good poits and yer i suffer panic attacks and health anxierty but as a patient thats not my problem but my doctors.

Not being able to breath propper is root cause tho

All am doing is trying to find answers relive my stress.

Some people might not wish to know BUT i like to know everthing and can say lung dieased are not neurotic when describing symptoms experiences with there conditions.

Think doctors could be tad more understandingand open.

jeff i will close my reply by adding your own comments"All am doing is trying to find answers relive my stress".Perhaps in conjunction with your GP you could investigate that avenue and maybe with appropriate counselling and with consultant input you can resole your Anxiety and be in a place where you want to be both mentally and physically.good luck.........skis

Granuloma in lung is not that uncommon Jeff.

But is benign, my Dad had them in lung and I've had one removed from my wrist a couple of years ago.

I'm sorry you have such lack of help from GPs etc but try not to worry too much coz it won't help your lung condition and could leave you more prone to picking up infections.

Results of your tests and x-data shouldn't be difficult to get and maybe there is nothing else to show you.

it so, take comfort from that....

Good luck...Janice

I'm lucky with regards to getting results from sputum tests I tell the respiratory nurse at the hospital when I send in and she rings me with the results long before the GP gets them.

in reply to Pantani

That's a good service you get xx
