I tried to rent a mobile oxygen concentrator to take away on holiday with me I was shocked to find out that it was costing £545 for 2 weeks rental that is more than the holiday cost me I have only just this last 3months had to go on oxygen prior to this I have managed with just inhalers but this year started badly with me having to go on steroids and antibiotics since January I have never seemed to not be on steroids as I couldn't breathe properly as soon as the course finished I went downhill and was put back onto steroids I have now had a oxygen machine supplied for use at home and to go out in the car with battery of 2hours. I need one to go on holiday does anyone have the same problem with rental charges. I have been looking to buy a small battery one to take away with me but all the ones I've looked at that are within my price range all come from China and will not arrive in time for me to go away on the 11th next month any help that anyone can give me would me much appreciated. Thank you for reading my post.

Hi

On no account purchase a affordable portable concentrator from China.

There only produce oxygen at 29/50% purity as opposed to the 97% found in approved medical portable oxygen concentrator.

You would also need sufficient battery power for the flight duration plus delays if flying.

Although expensive the price quoted is only 10% of the cost of a new unit, based on weekly hire rate. Does it include all necessary batteries?

You can look at the pinned post on left Respitory equipment for sale. See what's on offer.

Are you planning any further trips, depending on you LPM there are several offers for new and reconditioned units. Which may be worth a consideration.

Thank you for your advice I will look on the for sale page only trouble is some have been on 3years so don't know if they have been sold they should remove them once they have been sold so you are not contacting people for machines that already have been sold. If anyone has one for sale that does 2lts/min continuous flow let me know if it's in my price range I will certainly be interested in buying my limit is £500 as only on benefits and don't have a lot of spare money. Thanks Pam

Thank you for all your teplors I will certainly start looking into them to see if I can get one in time for us to go away middle of next month I think after this holiday I will save up for a new one and will buy it from a reputable company in England as I was dubious about buying one from abroad there was some in the USA but I think I will look to buy here after I've saved up seen them for about 2000£ do will look into it more when I've saved up the money so will probably be asking for help then I'm going to rent this time as it comes with 2 batteries and everything I need for my husband's use whilst we are away so thanks again for all your advice.
