Everyone's different in how they react Angie. Cant remember what stage you are at - Im stage 3/4 (33%) and am beginning to find the steam in my shower at home affecting me but that's only recently. If I was less further along the road I'd give the steam room a go. You can always beat a retreat if your chest starts tightening.

O2 as in making you worse im stage 3 49 % and don't feel affected by my shower just yet but my water is lukewarm and I have my window open and extractor fan...i just wanted to give it a shot as does my hubby after our gym sessions as a wind down thing xxx

Or give the bowl of boiling water and towel trick to trial it first, with caution!

I can cope with that hun guess I can practise my breathing technique and take a towel in with me for face cover lol and run out if it's too much xxx

Hi angie, I don't like steam rooms or jacuzzis where my damaged lungs are exposed to other people's germs which love warm wet atmospheres to grow. My GP always says jacuzzis are pseudomonas soup makers. The dry air in saunas is probably better but I find it uncomfortable.

I do have my own steam room at home which I don't use often enough. fancy a trip up the A34 and M40 to have a go?

Angie, if they have a steam room chances are the also have a sauna. If it's one that you can add water too, buy some oil of Eucalyptus and outcall few drops in, it's really refreshing

in reply to Budgie1954

They have both my lovley and just figured wet would be better rather than dry oh look a double entendre 😋😋 hope your feeling better today xxx

I'm now not sure if it is a chest infection as I feel fine today. But I'm going to take the full course, as I'm not bringing up as much mucas as normal, it seems to be drying up. Thank you for thinking of me gorgeous girl😘

So how does your lung condition affect you.as for the steam room, wish I was in there with you, it can get very misty 😉

in reply to Budgie1954

I don't get many symptoms at all .Before I stopped smoking I coughed a lot and wheezed terrible but since packing it in ...i don't cough hardly and when I do it's dry I get wheeze if I don't exercise or drink enough water which is rare I can drink 2 maybe 3 litres daily . I get out of breath on the treadmill but that's running at 9km ..if it's too much I reduce to 3km to recover and then bump it up again...come on in a take a pew it's lovley n warm... xxxx

I never use steam rooms, saunas or jacuzzis because they are breeding grounds for pseudo.

They are suppose to be really good for you.. I went to see the chest specialist last week and he told me to go into a steam room try and bounce and it will help relieve th mucus in your tubes and lungs....

Hope that helps

I have COPD and asthma I've done a lot of research and steam rooms are good for asthma and COPD. It helps loosen up the phlegm that's stuck in your lungs it's just like breathing over Steamy pot.

I work in the EMS field. Steam is excellent to loosen phlegm. Spit out what you cough up, otherwise you are helping infection to breed.
