Good morning, kaymaxzy112 . This diagnosis has clearly been a great shock to you. What treatment is your doctor offering to control the pseudomonas?

Thanks madam

Yes I have been put on cipro for 14days and 2injects/day for 7days

And the children have been put on cefuroxime for 10days. But can't start medication for my wife until we have the baby.

And we've been asked to have a diet change as well.

But my greatest fear is that even if I pretend I can afford to treat myself off this bug, I Dont think I will be able to afford to treat the rest of my family. Especially with the advised change of diet.

I Dont know what to do.

Thanks for this info,

Plz will I be attended to cos am not British. Am an African and currently resident in Africa.

We do not have access to health support and this is also part of my fear, cos I can not efford to treat all members of my family.

Plz I need all support I can get. Both psychological and financial.

Like I said in reply to other post here. Av been put on cipro and the kids also are on their medication too but was told that my wife can not commence medication until we have the baby

I will still call the number as you have advise.

Expecting to read from you again.

Thanks Mam

Hello kaymaxzy112, you may find it helpful to look on the british lung foundation web pages, they also have a helpline you can use that runs monday- friday. your doctor can also advise you. Googling on the internet (we've all done it) can bring up lots of frightening information but it doesn't help you understand what is relevant to you. Different bugs can cause similar symptoms so it's important to get it diagnosed by a doctor.Don't panic - these infections can be treated, and once the doctors know what bacteria is causing the infection it will help them select the right antibiotics. You can help yourselves fight the infection by supporting your bodies- eat healthy, get some rest, take the medication as prescribed and if symptoms don't start to improve or worsen go back to the doctor. My child has a chronic lung condition and we've had some scary infection episodes. I found that staying calm (even though I don't feel it) reassures the children and helps us all cope better. Hang on in there and talk to your doctor. Hope you're soon on the road to recovery.

I know you're terrified, but they've identified what it is and they can treat it with antibiotics. Please don't give up. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. You will all get through this. Definitely stay off google. It would scare the healthiest person on their best day. Ring the BLF helpline and also would you consider counselling to help you manage how you're feeling? I know I can deal with most things except when my kid is sick, it sends me into a tailspin so please seek out help. And keep chatting to us here. We are all living and thriving and surviving with one lung thing or another so we get it, we really do. Don't be afraid to cry or be mad or upset but please keep picking yourself up after it. Stay strong and love to your family xx

Oh yes am really terrified, I would not lie.

I will say thank you so much to you are all other people that replied my post.

Truth is I have been psychologically and emotionally down since the discovery and really finding it difficult to cope with this. But I will follow your advice here.

I need every help I can get plz. Can't even break the news to my wife.

How long more do I have to live. And my pregnant wife? The kids are just 7 and 5years old respectively.

in reply to kaymaxzy112

No thanks needed. We're all here for each other. And we've all gotten diagnosis at one time or another that has scared the crap out of us so please believe me when I say we understand the fear. You've had a shock and it will take awhile to adjust as it does with any shock. Allow yourself time to process it all. Talk to your doctors, talk to patients and ring the BLF tomorrow. Please do seek out some counselling. It has helped me so much to have that outlet to talk and cry and laugh or whatever it is I have needed to do. It will be your safe space to let it all out.

Does your wife not know about the infection or about how you are feeling? I can't lie, I don't know a lot about it but the BLF nurses will be able to help you tomorrow. They are excellent to deal with and can help point you in the right direction.

See Mickmm's response below too

Xxx

It is clear[y very difficult for you kaymaxzy112 because you don't live in a country with a healthcare system like many of us on this site who are from the UK. But others are right: suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, and a lot of your distress is probably that you feel helpless to do anything about your situation. What advice have you been given about changing your diet?

kaymaxzy112 profile image
kaymaxzy112 in reply to Ergendl

I have been advised to go more on probiotic and antioxidant foods and natural oil giving foods which are luxuries in my country and my monthly income can not carry that for all of us.

Ergendl in reply to kaymaxzy112

What is your staple diet like? Are you able to get things like fruit and vegetables, cheese, yogurt or kefir?

kaymaxzy112 profile image
kaymaxzy112 in reply to Ergendl

We get to eat only more of carbohydrates and proteins but the only relatively affordable fruit is orange. Cheese, yogurt and kefir are relatively expensive here. Even Apple Cidar Vine gar is about N4000 which is also expensive for me to get the needed quantities for d family.

Ergendl profile image
Ergendl in reply to kaymaxzy112

Oranges are great, lots of anti-oxidants. Do you have any vegetables like onions, leaves or roots? Are you living in a city or out in the country?

kaymaxzy112 profile image
kaymaxzy112 in reply to Ergendl

Yes we do have onions, garlic ginger and carrot, and some vegetables found in sallad. But the prob here is I do not earn enough income to keep to this diet for the whole family.

For instance, right now I have exhausted my salary already on the kids medication, especially the girl. My fear is what happens to us for the rest of the days in the month before I get another salary as there is no health support from the government or any charity group here. I really do not know what to do.

Holding you in my thoughts and prayers. Do you live in a town?

kaymaxzy112 profile image
kaymaxzy112 in reply to Ergendl

Thank you mama,

Yes I do live in a town

Ergendl profile image
Ergendl in reply to kaymaxzy112

Do you have family nearby that you can ask for help? Is your town big enough to have a Sikh gurdwara or a large church that offers community meals in their charity outreach?

kaymaxzy112 profile image
kaymaxzy112 in reply to Ergendl

What is Sikh gurdwara, Plz.

It's unfortunate the rich in my country never cares about the less priveledged. And the politicians are just busy looting the resources of the country that could have been used to provide basic amenities in the country.

I have searched for support but couldn't get any. I have also searched for natural herbs that could cure this infection. I came across two sites, but the cost of purchase and shipping is a bit high for me which I could not afford.

Just came back from my 11th injection today. But Am not sure am getting any tangible relief. Rather I feel difficulty in breathing now.

I can only look up to God now to help me out of this, the kids are also still coughing.

A Sikh gurdwara is their form of temple, where their holy book is read. Part of the Sikh way of worship is to provide vegetarian food for those who come to their temple, in their langar hall. For more information, visit en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gurdwara .

Oh I c.

We do not have such around here. Most of the churches we find around here are more of taking from the poor to enrich their pockets and flamboyant way of life rather than rendering humanitarian services to the needy. It's a big shame. I wish I can get a charity organisation outside my country.

Or get any group of invididuals that can help pay for the herbal treatments I found online.

Am not getting better after I've spent all my earnings on the regular medications.

I will be left with no option than to switch to any trusted herbal remedies around the globe.

Plz I need help.
