Hi, I had/have Giant Bullae on both lungs which like you I guess found out through a collapsed lung. LVRS is a necessity that works. Please feel free to send me messages when you feel able to do so as I only had my LVRS Christmas time 2016. I will say that for me it was a massive shock because I have always been a very fit guy and i'm only 43. It's July now and I feel almost back to my original strength. Emotionally is kind of a little different. Again, talk to me if you need to, have been there, had dark moments and good moments. Best of luck girl.

Hi Hope the surgery went/goes OK good luck. I haven't had bullous disease but a number of collapsed lungs, it seems likely that the bullous disease may have a cause to the lung collapse. With the lung they put in a drain to re-inflate it, all done under a local, you then have a bottle attached to allow the lung to expand again. Takes about a week to get going again. Wish you well.

Hope you are not feeling too shell shocked. I only have experience of LVRS via keyhole. It seems that often the lung tissue takes a while to heal so u may have to have a drain fitted for a while. Hang in and get moving sensibly as soon as poss. It can be scary but it does help recovery to move and do tell medics how u actually are feeling. Bestest of wishes and luck xx

I can remember how terrifying that was. In the first few days after op I saw a physio briefly in hospital who told me if I needed to cough to hold a pillow to my chest and try and do little coughs - which is of course easier said than done. It must be much more tricky for you with the collapsed lung reinflation. Ask them to help you manage your breathlessness occurrences whilst you are in this situation - perhaps they could talk you through some strategies to reduce the panic. I am sure every day feels like an age - but it will get better.
