I wonder if anyone from the UK could answer this questions.
If you are receiving PIP payment do you have to inform them before your operation or after?
Once you have had your operation will your PIP payment be stopped?

You have to report any change of circumstances which may effect you claim.
If you no longer meet the criteria, because of your operation you payment may stop or be reduced if you still require the care component.
Ring DWP for further advice.

The wa tranaplants work you dont get time before the transplant to inform them. So keeping them updated as soon as it is reasonable to do so i would of thought.

You need to tell the DWP as soon as possible if your condition changes because this can affect your Personal Independence Payment (PIP).
Examples of things that may change how your condition affects you include:
your condition gets better or worse
the level of help you need changes
you go into hospital or a care home for more than 28 days
For personal independence payment (PIP), disability living allowance (DLA) and attendance allowance, both the day you are admitted and the day you are discharged count as days out of hospital.

Stops after a total of four weeks (either in one stay, or several stays, where the gaps between stays are no more than four weeks each time) if you are aged 18 or over on the date you are admitted to hospital. This limit does not apply if you are aged under 18 on the date of admission; PIP can be paid for an indefinite period as long as the other qualifying conditions are met.
If you claim PIP when you are already in hospital, it cannot be paid until you leave.

You have to inform them if you are in hospital over 28 days, if you are not in hospital for this long it makes no difference to anything. If you are in hospital over this time you will not receive payment from the 29th day, this does not stop your claim just the payment is suspended, and as soon as you go home you inform them and payment is started again just as it was before

Congratulations Joe on receiving your lung transplant were you waiting long? I'm still in receipt of DLA but I remember reading, on the form, that I was to inform them if I had a transplant (I made a note of it because I'm awaiting a single lung transplant) I hope you recover well from your transplant

So sorry Joe I screwed up and mis-read your posting. Please forgive me. I feel awful. I think it's after so you can let them know it has affected you. Re the transplant............I was speaking to someone at Harefield Hospital 3 weeks ago and he had his lung transplant 3 years ago and was waiting only 18 days from going on the list.
