My Wish.

I've been reading some of the old messages and see that at one time it was suggested that some of the postings on here could maybe be incorporated into a little book for sale to the public, the profit going to the BLF. I doubt that any of mine would be deemed worthy, but just incase and to save future embarrassment, I wish to state now that I would not agree to have mine included.

That was a while ago Don and was thought up by our wonderful, sadly no longer with us, Vashti. Lots of us were getting together to contribute in some way.

When Vashti passed away it was decided not to publish anything out of respect for her and her family.

I know l'm not alone when l say that dear Vashti was an amazing teller of tales and stuff and is still very much missed.

Take care Don, good wishes to you. Xxx 👍😘

I'm sorry I missed Vashi and it's a pity that a book like that couldn't have be done as a memorial to her, but of course her families wishes must be respected.

In my case my thoughts are the other way around. Once I've gone I would be honoured to have such a book done, but now I'd rather they joined the group and contributed if they want to read my silly stuff. ;-)

That's fair enough Don. You write very well so who knows. Take care xxxx

I just read this post Don. Please don't ever stop giving us your 'silly stuff'. It is clever, amusing and lifts the spurits. Just what we need.

in reply to

Thank you Hidden that is all I wanted to do. But it seems my intentions are all too easily misinterpreted.

Don't worry Don. Just keep on doing what you are doing. The problem with sites like this, email and social media is that people write something that they would be more circumspect to say face to face. They often don't mean to offend or crticise. Try to ignore any which are not kind to you.

in reply to

No one has been unkind to me Hidden , but if they ever are I shall remember your excellent advice. ;-)

Unfortunately we are communicating on-line, which means we cannot hear tone of voice or see facial expression or body language and so the most innocuous of comments can sound insulting. Please always try to read every comment in its best possible light. Having done so you may find one that you still think is wrong and that is when you should click on the Report button and let the moderators know. Ignore and report. :)

Should not be on internet really then as most things on internet are public get copied shared.

Anyway a dout anyone will get rich form anyone postinng's and just incase they do this little thing called fair use.

I don't mind anyone share my scratching's as think it aids research development.

I've already told people on here that they can use what they want of mine and I didn't restrict it to "aids research and development."

There you go then BUT is worth remembering on post this tweet and fb button.

Jeff has a point Don. You do not 'lock' your posts so they are already shared across the Internet. To limit them to this site only you would need to select that option when you are posting.

I'm well aware that once posted they are there for any Tom Dick and Harry to help themselves. I was talking about one particular set of circumstances where people got upset because what was planned couldn't happen. It's the heading which caused all this not the posting, so I've changed it.

Hi Don, this was the idea of several members, instigated by wonderful pieces which were regularly submitted by one of our members. She had agreed to collate any submitted pieces and get them published. BLF agreed to help with the publicity.Any profit made was going to BLF. Unfortunately the member in question died very suddenly. The pieces submitted are, I believe, still with her husband but I doubt if he has the heart to do anything with them.

We who knew her all miss her very much and also her wonderful descriptions of her life in an eccentric corner of Ireland.

You can rest assured that no work of yours would be 'lifted' for any such project.

Dear Don-1931. Your privacy is as important as you. Have a good one. Winterhil

Thank you Winterhill1940 I appreciate that, but my privacy wasn't an issue. I like to think that lots of people are seeing and enjoying my postings, specially those who are so poorly that they have very little to even smile about. Everyone is free to copy and use whatever they think is worth the effort. I just didn't want to be included in any commercial enterprise that was intended irrespective of where the profit went. I am well aware of the fact that I could not stop them if they did that.

Hi Don I share your sadness for the loss of Vhasti she was a valued member of this group. Her stories she shared with us were so clear you could almost see her story unfolding and I miss this very much. She collected stories from members on her for her book and I'm sure they are in safe hands.

Sadly we live in a age where computers rule our life and the good thing about this is we get to chat but the down side is members who are not genuine they go on lots of sites causing trouble then they re- invent themselves with a new name and back they come again like a bad penny and nothing can be done and if the truth be known this is why genuine people leave. If you go on other H/u sites you will see what I mean just keep posting Don and take care.

We do try to get rid of any 'trolls' or trouble causers as quickly as we can on BLF but we do rely on our members to report them to us. Please do not engage with them as arguments give them the attention they crave. Ignore and report.
