Hidden Is right, I think. I have been on Uniphyllin for about 30 years now, with no side effects, until we tried to up the dose from 200mg morning and evening, to 400mg morning, 200mg evening, and then it seemed to affect my heart. The level in your blood stream needs to be monitored.

Last year the consultant prescribed Montelukast for my COPD. I took it religiously for a number of months but, as I started noticing a number of "other issues" quite soon after starting to take it I checked the side effects - sure enough most of the listed side effects I seemed to have developed! As normal I'd not bothered to read up on the drug until I had a problem (so the issues had to be real). I'd not been taking it previously, the issues began when I started taking it so I simply stopped taking it! I did have a review with the GP last week and said I'd stopped taking it because of side effects, she said "Oh, okay - well I'll take it off the repeat prescription list" - she was fine about it as I explained the reasoning.

I'm not suggesting that it's a good idea to just stop taking the meds (unless, like me, you're a bit of a numpty!) but it's with checking out the side effects of Montelukast ... I suspect that the issue is there!

Best wishes
