My consultant had just prescribed Azithromycin and Rifampicin Mon-Wed-Fri after clear tests and bloods following several months of bad infections. Anyone with any experience of these drugs please. Just hoping they will keep me well.

Thanks and Happy Easter everyone. ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿฅš๐Ÿฅš

Thanks Nottobad. I have to do bloods in 2 weeks. Just so hope it works as fed up with all these infections and hospital trips!

Good luck with yours.

Morning Liz, just to say that Pete takes azithromycin 3 times a week and they do help to keep him well. I hope you find they work for you.

I am currently taking rifampicin and clarithromycin for a Mac infection. In fact I've been on these antibiotics for over a year. The rifampicin turns your urine orange. Bizarre but apparently harmless. I haven't been aware of any side effects but follow the instructions carefully ie two hours after food one hour before. I have started to take probiotics to replace my good bacteria. The most annoying thing about the rifampicin for me is I once accidentally broke a capsule and the red powder went on my bright green carpet. I tried to clean it up with warm water and it left an obvious permanent stain! I have been on azithromycin in the past without side effects. Susan

Just to add, I had a blood test every month at the beginning of my treatment and now have them less regularly.

Thanks Susan. I have Mac too but that's not what we're currently treating as it's lying quietly! I think my consultant is trying to prevent the constant infections I have been having. So pleased to hear it's not giving you any problems. I take Kefir every morning as I gather it's better than regular probiotics. I also have to have a blood test in a couple of weeks. Do you know how you got Mac?

Best wishes and hope you're feeling ok.
