Hello and welcome to the site. I don't know anything about this so will leave it to others to reply to you. :)

Hi there, I think high white blood cell count is a symptom of all infections, not just Pseudomonas. When your body is working hard trying to defend itself, the number of white blood cells increase.

I'm not sure which treatments you're referring to because of your predictive text, mixing up words. But pseudomonas can be treated very effectively by the nebulised antibiotic, Colomycin. Ciproxin is also used to treat it but may need another drug added to the mix. It can be difficult to em wipe it out completely, but given time, it can be done.

That would be a dream come true. It's just that the white blood count has been up for over two years and I just attributed to the pseudomonas but nobody's ever really done any follow-up work despite the other symptoms I'm having. The nebulizer antibiotic that would be interesting I will have to say though that I don't trust nebulizers I think they are a bloodbath of germs and no matter how many times you clean them he still can't get on her claim I believe this was a hospital infection double pneumonia after hip replacement and ended up getting pseudomonas.

And how have they treated the Pseudomonas so far ? Have you taken antibiotics for it ? Sorry to hear how unwell you've been and I hope you get on the road to recovery soon.

A high WBC count indicates inflammation within the body but it doesn't show specifically where or what is causing it. I get a high WBC with any chest infection not just pseudo and it's also high with a flare up of arthritis.

I'm not sure debfini what medication you are on but if you are taking it 1 Mon, Wed and Friday, I would assume it is a prophylactic. These are not a treatment but are meant to try and reduce inflammation and keep a lid, as far as possible on infections i.e. try to reduce them.

Most people I know who are colonised with PA and who are lucky enough to be able to tolerate it are on daily nebulised abs. I am sorry you don't trust that even with the best lung hygiene you don't trust that nubulisers can be kept clean, as this would limit you. True it takes time and effort, boiling equipment etc. but many folks do it. Even then we sometimes end up having to have or do our own IVs.

You don't say if your pseudo has been a one off or if you are colonised.

I hope when you see your consultant you get something sorted.
