Not that anybody is going to be the slightest bit interested. The 'assessment' at my GP's surgery, which I mentioned yesterday, was in fact a frailty test being carried out on a random selection of elderly patients. I scored 7. As I understand it 8 or above you are classed as frail. It was my memory that let me down, at least I think that's what they said. I've an appointment with the doctor to see what can be done about that.
It could be seen as an asset, of course, I sometimes forget how bloody awful I felt when I first got up in a morning and I can enjoy reading my favourite book over and over again.

I don't think the exercise was about individuals, so much as getting an overall impression of what the bulk of their elderly patients are like. I certainly don't regarded myself as being anywhere near 'frail' normally, but must admit that dog and I were propping each other up for a while at the beginning of the year.
Yes sometimes generic tests may be useful; other times they focus on a detail which might only be related to how someone presented on the particular day, how the test was conducted and other factors. Well done for seeing it in perspective.
Well I have been wondering whether my messages have been clogging up the system a bit too much with off topic stuff, but most is closely connected with COPD and the effect it has on me.
You have misunderstood. We have specific places for General Chat and Humour. These posts are allowed and do not have to have a connection to lung disease. When the guidelines speak of going 'off topic' they refer to members who enter a post to reply but then discuss a completely different topic within that post - as we are here. For example, poster A asks about an inhaler, member B responds. Then member C asks member B about their day and member B says she has been shopping. Members B and C then have a long discussion about various shopping centres, the parking, the shops available, the best days to go, etc. This has taken the post totally off topic and the poor original poster has very few replies as others have joined in to discuss the shopping rather than the inhaler asked about.

your poems show that you are on the ball....perfect rhymes and to the point. Don't show them to the medics though! If you are frail, I dread to think what they would score me as ......over the hill for sure.

I'm just a baby at 64 and I'm always forgetting things. 😃 Last time I went on holiday, I was really enjoying my book and I'd got over half way through it before I realised that I'd read it 6 months previous! 😃 Still finished it though, again, lol. I am interested. My mum lives in England but she hasn't mentioned this assesment. Maybe it's only at certain gps? How long did it take? Hopefully not too long. I hope you at least got a cup of tea? I will mention it to mum, maybe she has done it and just not mentioned. I struggled cutting up vege for soup tonight. Now that, I think is frail. I am sure you'd do better than me. I enjoy reading books I like over and over and the interesting is, each time I seem to discover a new sentence of meaning I had missed before. If that's the sign of a bad memory then I don't mind too much.

I am very interested Don. I love your poems and they always make me laugh and others too. I always read them but often don't reply.
Oh and I read my books time and time again too! I have enough now that I never need to buy any more.
I got the idea that it was a test local to my GP's practice, but it could have been on instructions from above. It lasted about half an hour, maybe a bit longer, and consisted mainly of questions. At one point I was given a sheet of paper with a circle drawn on it and I had to insert the figures for a clock showing 11.10am. For some reason I started with 1 at the top realising my mistake when I got to 3 in the wrong place. That's probably when my memory problem showed, I might have slipped up elsewhere as well unknowingly. There was no stress involved, so your Mum need not worry if she has to have one.
Have trouble getting lids off things, tops of bottles. Tonight, it was a tub of coffee ice cream. I levered it off with a spoon. When reading a book, I often have to go back to the previous chapter to pick up the story.
On the clock test the subject is asked to put the numbers on. Patients with dementia in all it's forms, will only write the figures on one side all crammed into one side. Or other variations. If you put the numbers all round the clock, you are OK.
There you go Hidden ,see how many people just "weren't interested in your assessment" !!!! Loads of us are interested. I'd only wished you could have spoken to these Doctors who did your assessment, in your poetic rhyme- that would have shown them eh?
