I was just wondering if there was any artist in this forum. I would be nice to see what kind of work you do.

I have been watching some great videos on YouTube about how to draw and paint in different mediums. Great for those who can't get to classes or who just want to brush up on techniques.

You wouldn't believe me Clamdigger , but back when I was a mere lass and decimalisation wasn't even around,I did take an ALevel in Art and did ok with a middle of the road pass,a "C". Quite a lot was on the theory of art but we had to do a still life and a watercolour landscape of our own work. I found still life, using charcoal very difficult and much preferred to paint with watercolours. It is something I have often thought of trying again although my hands are now rather shakey but who knows that might add to the picture!!

What I do like is virtually with some time to spare,a bit of inclination, pad of paper and pencil and your off......... So relatively cheap by today's standards. I do hope you get your fit to fly certificate as being Ill is no fun at all especially when you aren't at home.

Get better and get back home.

This is the first time I have used watercolor I find when I paint I don't think about anything else. When I was in Porto picked up some pads pen and water color pad. I have done just a few I do also have shaky hands but doing branches and easy things. I found the ease of it all just water one brush I'm using that came with the kit.. My one lung is not getting better hashing things out with the Ins company. Thank god it is cheap here in Lagos . You should take it up again water colors are cheap and easy and no smells. lllll

I think water colours take a lot of skill to produce successfully. No room for error. For beginners, gouache paint is water soluble. It can be watered down or used more strongly. Cheaper than oils or acrylics.

I picked up some water color paints when I Porto bit different but easy to use when traveling . Do need some lessons hard to reverse the way I have been painting for years. But fun great past time.

They key is observation, observation, observation. I would recommend doing still life at first. An apple at first, then add other things. An orange, banana and green pepper look good.Look carefully, to see where the shadows are, note that the light will show round both sides of an apple. Probably be good to have a plain background at first. If you do these things as an exercise. I will help you further.
