Hi, I'm not surprised you ok confused. I would be going back to my GP and asking what is going on, ask him for more tests at least that way you can stop worrying. Hope you get some answers soon, let us know how you get on. Take care 😊 xxx Bernadette

This as been known to happen. Was the nurse a qualified respiratory nurse? I have known A few people who have passed a spirometry test having failed on previous test. The physiological reasons for this are many and varied. Spirometry is a good tool to monitor COPD but it is not a definitive test. The most reliable form of diagnosis is the CT scan which can actually show the nature and form of the damage.

Happens a lot these days. COPD is a sort of umbrella term to cover different conditions and I don't think they're all singing from the same hymn-sheet as to what it does actually cover. I was told I had asthma in 2002 - last year the nurse decided I didn't because heavy ventolin dosage made no difference. I'm as confused as you, frankly. I have a yearly clinic on Monday next so maybe it'll change again.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is an umbrella term used to describe progressive lung diseases including emphysema, chronic bronchitis, refractory (non-reversible) asthma, and some forms of bronchiectasis. However there is some disagreement over this. But if the nurse stated your asthma was irreversible then it would explain why she thinks you are COPD now.

I think I would take the word of a specialist with a CT Scan over a nurse with a Spirometry test.

I don't know much about copd but considering you were DX after CT scan at a hospital then I know who I'd be listening to! CT scans don't lie.

Did a dr tell you that you had moderate copd? What is this module you have? If you don't have copd that is great. John

I really believe you need to have clarification regarding your situation. Let us know what happens. John

If you had previous steroids that would off gave a good result using spirometer.
