Poor you Time_2_drink . You really are having a hard time at the moment. Fingers crossed the oxi will arrive and then you say you have to go to be assessed for a wheelchair. It never ends does it. I do feel for you as I had a period of time where I wanted to just get fresh air(more than sitting outside) but had to wait for other things first,to fall into place. Try and keep calm and be positive- hard as that seems. Thinking of you.

It gets better not when hubby first went to surgery after doctor said to go over was told I had to go to be weighed and measured but obviously couldn't no oxygen and to far to walk was going to have to try and borrow wheelchair from red cross to go and get assessed for said chair .Today rang the surgery to make appointment said I getting oxygen told someone would ring this afternoon and take my measurements over phone .Then told they would be sent to James cook hospital and it could take a week or so .Any wonder I taken to my bed .Like you know from your experiences it ain't easy

OMG !! This is now verging on the ridiculous and its probably upsetting your Hubby too. I'm going to put my thinking cap on(doesn't often happen) and see if I can suggest another approach. Hopefully you'll get some more sensible suggestions from folk here. This just isn't fair. I'm pressing that your own Doctor knows your predicament re wheelchair etc. If the oxygen does appear today, can you be driven to doctors for said "fitting"? Kind regards.

Unbelievable Time_2_drink ,just never known anybody to be as unlucky as you with this whole oxygen situation. I realise you feel down and very tired, but please ring your Doctor or even better your Respiratory Nurse and demand(very politely of course)that you've been putting each day on hold do to speak. None of this is helping you or your family. Good luck- my fingers are crossed for you!

It is not surprising you feel weak with the rollercoaster of emotions you have been through recently. Relax today, try to stop worrying and just wait for the oxygen to arrive. Once it does you can take your time to get adjusted to using it outdoors, practising inside at first maybe?

Dear Time_2_drink,

You appear to have forgotten the advice I offered a few days ago. I believe that we have to 'break down' most of the tasks we have in our life into manageable smaller 'bite size chunks'. Generally if we look at the whole picture, task or change without doing this we all feel it's too much and don't even try, start or attempt the task. This in turn, can as it appears with you, make you feel even worse about yourself without even trying.

We all feel this way sometimes but please remember 'take small steps at a time'. A thousand miles walk starts with one small step. An oft said cliché but very true. However we all, and I include myself, forget this pearl of wisdom more than we would like to admit. Another way of saying it is 'one small step at a time'. The important thing is for you to break the tasks into your manageable amounts and that they are achievable. If they're not then it defeats the objective and we thus feel even worse either physically or mentally or both!

The other very important advice is to 'not play out future events in your mind'. By this I mean, for example, "if he/she says this then I will say that, then they will reply so and so to which I will retort such and such etc'. All of this is in our mind and hasn't even happened yet. This can drive us barmy!

Keep calm and stay in the day. In other words don't let yourself be sabotaged by future events and outcomes that haven't event happened yet. This is very important advice especially for people who live alone and don't have someone to help them 'stay grounded'.

All of the above takes time and practice and even then we can forget, I certainly can. Manys the time my mind has gone 'on a long holiday' into the future with all the negative thoughts I could muster to stop me starting a task!

Be good to yourself, most of us on this forum have been where you are now, and survived with the help of fellow 'suffers'. I often used to stay in bed to avoid doing anything I thought was too difficult.

Kindest wishes

An excellent reply Mark. Something for all of us to take on board.
