Your post reminded me of the days (a few years ago) when I used to walk the Derbyshire high peak for pleasure. From that vantage point you could work out where Sheffield and Manchester were on a bright day from the yellow smog that hung like a shroud over each city and rising halfway to the stratosphere.
Always thought it showed the worst effects of humanity. Now I'd just like the energy to go there again!
