It's difficult isn't it? We can get into a cycle of illness causing low mood and then our low mood making our illness feel worse. I hope that chatting on here will help you today.

Hi I am sorry to hear this. We all have down times unfortunately and it is the nature of our illness. Just relax and don't try and push yourself. Hopefully you will feel better very soon. Take care. x.

I've just spotted this post now but read your answers on the other one. A combination of a flu like illness on top of the usual hassles of COPD, is pretty hard to cope with. Please don't despair because you won't feel this bad forever. Moods do change and even the lowest mood lifts eventually. 45% lung function isn't that bad you know. Many of us here have far lower lung function then that and manage to lead fairly normal lives. I'm sure once this flu has passed, you will be in a better position to look to the future and get some help with your health problems.

Please don't cry, you are causing floods down here ha ha. Seriously, 45% is not so bad, and can be improved upon. Have you spoken to the British Lung Foundation Nurses yet? Listen to Auntie Anne, STOP Googling!! Have you been referred for the Pulmonary Rehabilitation, I can't remember. If not, get onto your GP. It is normal to feel free up and tearful, if you have not had a long-term health condition before. There are specialist psychologists trained in helping people with long-term health conditions such as COPD, and they are very good. I know, I went to one.

When I came out of hospital, my lung function was the same as yours. You will feel tired because you have not learnt how to pace yourself yet, got to know when your body tells you that you need to rest, until you get your breath back, and can do some more.

Can I recommend a book called 'Who says I can't? A Guide to Living Well With COPD. IT is written by Joe Lodge who has been living with Severe Emphysema for over 15 years. You can get it from Amazon, or maybe your local library could get it for you. Things will get easier.

Gosh I THINK WE ALL SUFFER THOSE LOW DAYS FROM TIME to time....a day of endless tears and yet didn't feel like that the day before when nothing was any differentALL I DO IS TELL MYSELF TOMORROW IS A NEW DAY AND DO 20 MINUTES ON THE TREADMILL...DISTRACTS ME FROM THOSE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS.
