Why can't I get a diagnosis? Symptoms are appearing over time, but still no answers.

I am so confused. I have to take beta blockers and apixiban as I have atrial fibrillation. I take medication for high blood pressure. I am very breathless on exertion, have been for 2 years. I have marked dysarthria, (Foreign Accent Syndrome) especially when tired, but the neurologists don't know why. Brain scan taken months after speech impairment first appeared, is clear. Now doctor says I have a reappearance of gerd, which I managed to contain two years ago. So more medication. I have a nasty cough ongoing for about 9 months. I have a very pronounced breath shudder, which someone said is called atelectasis. I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnoea but found the CPAP machine made my breathing worse. My question, have I a lung problem or are my breathing problems gerd related? Though my speech impairment is thought to be caused by weak tongue and facial muscles. The neurologist said my 2.36 lung reading was good for my age. Why am I always so breathless and why am I continually coughing, day and night? Doctors just throw medication at you but don't give you an answer. It's always maybe you have this or that. So fed up of feeling tired all the time, with no energy. Surely in this day and age there must be an answer. Everything can't be due to gerd or can it? Thank you, in anticipation, of some advice from folk who have more sense in their little finger than these overpaid doctors who have no answers for their patients.

I think it's heart issue ... Coughing wheezing could be left or right sided heart failular or values.

For obvious reasons doctors won't tel you so as not to make condition worse if heart failular.

If breathless when lay flat defo be that .... Most people suffers don't know you can suffer it and be walking round.

I would ask your doc's

Thank you Jeff for your quick and efficient answer. I tend to side with you, because a year ago I had an ECG at my doctors which showed left ventricular enlargement. The hospital then put me on medication, but haven't bothered with me since. The coughing is worse as soon as I try to lie down, so I sleep sitting up in an armchair. I have got so much worse with the tiredness and breathlessness. I spend more time sleeping wherever I happen to sit down. I'm retired so don't work. I have no quality of life. I asked my doctor for ace inhibitors but he refused saying it would make my coughing and wheezing worst. I just get dismissed, with omeprazole for gerd!!! I'll have to just assume it's heart failure. Thank you Jeff. Like I said, the help you get on this site is so much more constructive and valuable than all the trips to the doctors.

Defo enlargement would do it ... I would go doctors and lay cards out on table SAY we have tried your way and IT sucks i have no quality of life AND I have nothing to lose by using trying ace inhibaters IF your gp refuses ask to be refereed to heart doctor that at least will trial you on them.

Thank you, Jeff. You are a Star. I am due to see a different GP in 2 weeks, so I will ask for the inhibitors. I'll report back. Thanks, again.
