PFT
Guess it depends if still breathless .... But I think smoking might be surpresing O2 oxygen starvation they feel at that level of lung function.
Four to 6 liters of oxygen/minute is the most that is readily given in a home setting. There are some “high-flow” oxygen set-ups in hospitals.
Defo bad idea to smoke as will get to stage all oxygen in world won't help.
Don't want to sound harsh but thing with any diseases there is always trade off.
I guess if stopped smoking might have issues with Co2 acidosis.
Clearly am no expert but expressing my opinion ... I would talk to you lung doctor or ask none smokers on here how they fair with oxygen and co2 issues.
Defo be interesting to read there experiences.
hello honey, I think its terrible to smoke if you are on oxygen. before my situation came about some years ago, I used to see people in wheelchairs smoking with oxygen tanks hooked to their chairs, just take the cord out their nose, smoke and put the cord back in, it looked terrible! I used to say, they might as well just lay down because they were really killing themselves. when I was first diagnosed with copd, I quit smoking immediately, because in spite of the fact, I knew I wanted to live. You need to tell yourself how much you want to live, I'm SURE your family wants you to live. Trust me, when you want to live giving up the thing that's killing you is not so hard. I will be praying for you. Be blessed.
