Only available on trial in three hospitals. No hope of it going mainstream alas. 5000 people treated so far with no real feedback as far as I can find. Off to see consultant on 7th Dec so hoping to get more info

A significant part of the article link in Stone's reply is that this isn't suitable for everyone with copd. If you have what's called pan-lobular emphysema the damage is pretty much all over your lungs. You have to have some healthy tissue left in order to benefit.

I was reading a PneumRx blurb about their coils (the ones in the article are called RePneu) which seemed to be saying you could have them inserted "where damage is more widespread". If I can find anything about it, I'll post it here. Since it was a manufacturer's ad to sell their product, it may have been a little optimistic . . .

Ive just googled the PneumRx site and it seems they manufacture the RePneu coils for European use in Germany. So they are the same thing.

There are also lung valves as well as coils. Your consultant will be able to tell you if you meet the criteria and can refer you if you do. You'll need a couple of tests and Rehab before and after.

If you click on the magnifying glass icon at the top right of the page you can enter what you're looking for and all previous posts will come up.

Good luck.

Yes I have heard of this they did trials at the Royal Brompton using the coils method. The One Show had a guest on that had had the coils fitted and was enjoying improved health. Haven't heard any results on long term benefits as yet ? So think it is still early days might be worth following it up again to find out more. We live in hope . 😊

Earlier this year I was accepted for trials of valves at Bristol. Had to abandon it as I was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer. Doc said if I was checked out clear then he could put me on the NHS pathway for valves. So clearly it must be available to anyone fulfilling criteria. There are quite a lot of tests to go through so don't know the details of criteria. Hope you find somewhere near you that ca test you
