Carbocisteine + smelly urine

Hi, I have been on Carbocisteine since March this year and over the last six months I've noticed very smelly urine in the morning when it's strongest, anyone else notice this? 😷

Strong smelling urine can be caused by several things, including dehydration.

I have been on it for ages, and don't have that problem, but l drink lots of water every day.

YES - I am on Carbocisteine, prescribed by Chest Consultant. I too have smelly urine. I looked this up on Google and found it could be urine infection or diabetes. I don't think it is either in my case. Maybe it is a rare side effect that se both have.

I do not use this drug, but have had horrendous urinary tract infection last five days, but now recovering! I would see your GP but take a sample urine with you. My urine was the most disgusting colour and really smelly! I know that dehydration can affect the colour of urine, but take it from me you don't want what I have just had!
