Hello rockett,

It doesn't matter if we don't know each other. I don't want you to be scared. I don't want you sick either. I sometimes have an attack of vertigo, and yes it make you sick and dizzy and feeling drunk without the pleasure of having got there. There is some marvellous medication for vertigo that acts quickly, so try to keep calm. I hope you have been given something to keep you steady whilst you wait for your appointment - hope that you have family and friends with you, and I hope that appointment will come quickly for you. Try to remain calm. I'm sure someone else will be along shortly who knows more about it than me who can give you more words of comfort and allay your fears.

Excellent post by jennifer. A truly horrible experience. Had it too off and on - it was the crystals which get dislodged in my case - a bugger when you have to do physio.

Sweetheart I hope you get an appointment quickly and/or this clears up. As jennifer says there are drugs which can help.

Hope you improve soon.

Hope you won't have to wait too long for your appointment. I have occasional bouts of vertigo, but I don't get them very often and they seldom last very long fortunately. They can be scary, especially if you're on your own, and feeling nauseous is horrible. If you haven't been given any medication for the sickness and dizziness perhaps you should see if your doctor can give you something to tide you over until you get your appointment. In the meantime take things easy and try not to worry.

Hello rocket

Sorry to hear you are not well.

It may not be the case for you, but l have been increasingly bothered by feeling very dizzy over the last 12 months, and finally had my appointment at ENT 4 weeks ago....

After tests which aggravated my condition in the consultation room. I was diagnosed with benign positional vertigo....crystals in my semi circular canal...in the inner ear.

The consultant, treated me there and then with a series of movements that made me very dizzy, but shifted them back into the eustastion tube , where they are harmless.

Job done

I hope you find your cause.

Saw this done on the GP behind closed doors programme on tv a couple of weeks ago. the gp said it will make you feel dizzy for a few minutes then you will be ok, he said it was to move the cystals back to there proper position. You should still be able to see it on I player I think it was channel 5

This will be the Epley maneuver clematis, it is easy to do, have seen my sister perform it on a patient and mins later she was fine. It did not work for me though, because my dizziness was caused by sinus infection after a sinus op years ago, ok now. Hope rocket can get it sorted soon.

Thanks everyone for encouragement. The doctor has given me tablets to help with dizziness. Not working yet but only been 2 days. They are unsure it's vertigo due to many falls, 1 faint and l've been like this now for 3 month. I live on my own since husband dying but have moved to ground floor flat, so at least l wont be falling down stairs anymore. Hope you all have a good day.x

Hello Rocket, life has been tough for you, but you are coping well. The move sounds a very sensible idea, and keeping in touch on here is good sense too. I have had labrynthitis in the past which put me in bed for three days, couldn't turn my head to reach for a glass of water without everything spinning like I was on a roundabout. I too am prone to fainting - not too often but enough to shake my confidence every time it happens.

Best wishes, Iris x
