Hi everyone,

I would like to let you all share the following cannula attachment info. I know many folks worry about fire hazards.

Thanks for the information, are these available in the UK? Not sure what Country the article is from. I found the video very educational, could say frightening!

I would hazard a guess that it is from the USA. If you are on oxygen, then your equipment should be supplied with fire breaks in the tubing. These are white things (like on the video) which will stop the fire / flames travelling back up the tube. My home concentrator, which has a long reach, has two of these breaks.

Spot on... I am an oxygen engineer..... the white valves are the firebrand.... 2 on concentrators and 1 on back up cylinder, not required on portables.

Hope this helps too.

Hi Auntypooh, I am a Brit but live in Thailand and am not familiar with mandatory supplies in the UK. I am not using oxygen (yet) even though I am stage IV emphysema (FEV1 19%). I got the 1st URL from another emphysema org. that I subscribe to. I have seen many times on our forum folks asking about fire risk so I passed it on.

Cheers Dave.

just to add my motto is " Yes I have emphysema but emphysema does not have me"

breathe easy exercise often.

Hi Yorkie - hope you have good medical care in Thailand. Just to say that not everyone needs oxygen. I have a friend up North in the UK and she is not on oxygen. She doesn't know her FEV1 as it is too low to measure. It doesn't stop here enjoying life and creating mayhem wherever she goes! She is a retainer, so oxygen would probably kill her. Agree 100% with your motto.

Take care and look after yourself.

Hi

Fire safe devices are available free from your oxygen provider. UK.

Usually supplied with static concentrator.
