I reluctantly started prednisolone three days ago, really awful cough and wheeze like thunder! Don't have fever and sputum is white, so have not taken antibiotics as I believe sputum should be green before antibiotics needed! Is that not a bit late in the day?

Id personally go to docs at least to check the wheezes if there. Ky going with medication. Better to be safe than sorry id say.

You should see doctor again and if sputum gets worse then get a sample of it in proper container down to surgery to be tested. If sputum shows infection you will be treated with correct antibiotics. Hope you feel better soon Katy. Xxxxx

Have appt to see doctor on 5 October so thought would soldier on, but keeping an eye on it and giving steroids a chance to do their work, have 2 days to finish 5 day course! Will see how I am by Monday and can always attend walk in for emergencies from 11am! Thanks to all those who have replied!
